Accenture alumni returners programme


Accenture recognises that even the most-talented professionals can find it daunting to return to work after taking a career break.
ReSUME is a 4-month, competitively-paid work placement to empower professionals who have taken a minimum 2-year career break.

The ReSUME Programme is perfect for professionals that want to resume their careers after taking some time out to travel, do something for themselves or be at home with their family. Applications to the ReSUME Programme 2018 closed on October 31st 2018. The 2019 ReSUME Programme is expected to reopen in September 2019, but we will continue to collect expressions of interest in the interim.

The programme runs from Feb – May 2019 and is designed to train and support participants to refresh their existing talents, learn new skills, and strengthen their confidence. The ideal ReSUME candidate is passionate about business, and/or technology and is motivated by the prospect of progressing their careers with a permanent role at Accenture, at the end of the programme.

The ReSUME programme focuses on coaching, mentorship and training. You will receive support to help you to refresh your skills and coaching to ensure a smooth transition back to work.

Our partner, Women Returners, will provide you with a four-stage Coaching Programme, which has been specifically tailored to address the practical and psychological challenges faced by professionals re-entering the workforce. The coaching workshops facilitate a more rapid re-integration into the corporate environment, increasing your contribution and satisfaction from returning to work. The workshop format for the coaching facilitates you building good relationships and friends among the other returners on RESUME.

Whether you are returning to work after 2 or 20 years, you will find that our programme will make you feel part of a strong community of like-minded people who will help ease your transition, as well as share experiences, tips and advice.

You will easily build a strong support network of mentors and buddies, and gain access to a diverse range of training as well as clubs, societies and networking groups which will allow you to meet peers through a range of community and social events. After you complete your induction, you will start on a project and for the next three months you won’t just be shadowing others; you’ll be getting in the mix right from the start.

To apply to the ReSUME programme, you should have had an extended career break for two or more years. Your career break may have been for childcare, eldercare or other reasons (e.g. travel, etc.). You may have been working on a small-scale basis to fit around your other commitments or have not done any paid work for a number of years.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in of the following areas:

  • Project or Programme Management
  • Business Analysis
  • Software Engineering
  • Management Consulting (with experience in one or more of the following sectors: Financial Services, Utilities, Central Government, Consumer Products)
  • User Design Experience
  • Agile Methodologies
  • Operations (Service Delivery & Management)


Step 1: Express Your Interest in the ReSUME Programme

Step 2: Quick Chat Over the Phone
Following your expression of interest, we may then contact you for a quick follow up conversation. We will ask a few questions to determine whether the programme is the right fit for you. If it is, you may be invited to an interview afternoon in November.

Step 3: Interview Afternoon
The interview afternoon will take place in our Dublin office where you'll meet members of our teams to understand more about who we are and take part in 1:1 discussions.

Step 4: Receive an Offer
If it looks like you’re a good match after the interview afternoon, we'll invite you to join the programme.

Step 5: Onboarding
If you have been invited to join the scheme, you will start your 4-month placement in early February, with an induction and training period followed by your project assignment.
