Controllership - Tax Operations Manager

Job Description

The Controllership Tax Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the execution and delivery of Income Tax Compliance for UK and Ireland and supporting other European entities as required in line with internal policy deadlines and liaising with external advisors. A key component of the role will be to manage relationships and collaborate with other teams within Controllership and Tax and ensure the overall smooth running of the Tax Centre of Value.


  • Plan and develop Income Tax Compliance calendar and co-ordinate timing and Inputs with various teams.
  • Overseeing the compilation of the annual tax computation information for a range of entities for submission to the Tax Advisors.
  • Manage the relationship with Tax Advisors answering queries & providing data as required.
  • Responsibility for overseeing the research and presentation of tax positions.
  • Responsibility for overseeing the preparation of the year-end tax packages / True ups for submission to the Global tax group as well as answering queries and providing data as required.
  • Calculation of the Effective Tax Rate on a quarterly basis.
  • Responsibility for overseeing the preparation of the Tax forecast on a quarterly basis.
  • Preparation of preliminary tax payments for each jurisdiction as they fall due.
  • Manage detailed review of monthly tax reconciliations.
  • Monitor tax developments that may have an impact on the Company.
  • Ensure resourcing is effectively deployed to meet objectives.
  • Developing the relationship with both Country Controller and Global tax Group.
  • Ensure integrity and completeness of financial records and internal financial controls.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement of existing processes.
  • Support and coach the team, ensuring adequate succession planning is in place to sustain the long-term performance of the team.
  • Handle escalated queries and build strong team knowledge.


  • Knowledge of Accounting standards (IFRS and US GAAP).
  • Demonstrated leadership with ability to coach and motivate the team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to interpret and understand financial and business information and make the associated recommendations for action.
  • First class numerical and technical analytical skills.
  • Positive attitude and flexibility.
  • Sense of responsibility, initiative, and high-quality work standards.
  • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise.

  Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Tax professional, 5 years post qualification experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of tax legislation and current tax practices.
  • SAP experience an advantage but not essential.
