Job Description

M+C Strategy Stories Team is seeking to hire a story lead focused on story strategy and execution. While primarily focused client stories in the European market, there will be client people and community stories that will be used in strategic moments such as paid media, organic social and advertising campaigns across all markets and aligned with our growth priorities.  The story lead will be a part of a growing global team based in M+C Strategy, working with client account teams, marketing professionals, and business leaders across Accenture to identify, support and promote our top stories on a wide range of business, technology, and societal issues that support our brand.

The Story Lead should possess a combination of strong English-language (comprehension and written) skills, as well as a strong disposition for detail – focusing on the story editing more so than copy editing.  This role works with high-level stakeholders (including Accenture leadership) and will require stellar reporter interviewing skills to help pull out the right story from our consultants as well as the ability to recommend stories for incoming requests – from awards and paid media to client sales support and events. 

Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of Stories team Chief Story Strategist, the story lead will:
• Collaborate with client account teams, story development and editorial leads, writers, and marketers on the strategic positioning, execution, and promotion of our best stories. The Story lead will help shape the idea and direction of the story with multiple groups such as advertising, paid media, organic social and Accenture.com – often fully integrated with those teams until launch of the story.  This includes participation on story interviews to help influence the direction of story for broad external use.
• In addition to the strategic positioning and execution of a priority story, The Story Lead will work with Growth Priority Marketing Directors to identify their best stories to support their campaign promotion.  These stories are also top candidates for advertising and paid media as well as recommendations to sales teams.  The story lead will also be responsible for quarterly review of all stories to hand pick strong stories that align to Accenture’s strategy and best support our brand.   
• The story lead in this role will have a special focus on client stories and will establish a close working relationship with Marketing Directors, Story Development and Editorial Leads, agencies as well as the client account team, and with select marketing and business leaders. This will require a deep understanding of Accenture’s strategy, it’s growth priorities as well as industry and market nuances. This relationship will also allow the story lead to find other opportunities to influence the writing direction as well as identify or promote stories to the rest of Accenture.  The role may require interaction with our clients. 
• In addition, as the face of stories for each of our markets, the story lead will be on point to provide guidance, updates – both quantitative and qualitative – on available stories and make recommendations for stories to support their market units. They will also be the first point of contact to support requests from the market CMOs and their leads, guide teams on identifying best story opportunities and guide them on strategic alignment to global strategy as well as assist market unit teams to help capture story opportunities / reviews of case studies for immediate use such as awards, earnings and speaking events.
• A keen eye for visual storytelling, ensuring best in class images, complementary content and well-designed landing pages and templates.
• Accenture is a global company, and the story lead will need to work across time zones and with people from dozens of countries, working in English but notably with many non-native English speakers. Will also need to work with the tools used to collect, maintain, and disseminate stories.

Qualifications

Skills
• A demonstrated ability to edit and write stories that focus on business, technology and human-focused.
• An inquisitive, investigative approach to interviewing to get the best story from our client teams that will support our brand.
• A demonstrated ability to work effectively in complex, challenging stakeholder environments – sometimes with time sensitive timelines.
• The imagination and empathy to write and/or edit persuasively and authoritatively for C-level executives and other senior leaders in global organizations, with an emphasis on executive-to-executive communication in clear, easy to understand language void of consultant jargon.
• The ability to balance multiple considerations in the strategic use of a story—client and Accenture language choices, research inputs, intended business outcomes, brand considerations.
• A high degree of intellectual curiosity in the areas of business, management, and technology; with ongoing learning about our work, trends in the marketplace as well as industry and market impact.  
• An ability to take direction and coaching from the chief storyteller and other senior story leads.
• An ongoing desire to improve storytelling skills and business knowledge.  A constant learner with curiosity to get to the best story
• Ability with Word essential; facility with PowerPoint useful
• Understanding of strategic use of stories, a plus
• Understanding of research techniques; ability to dig for additional information.

Experience
• Seven or more years’ experience as a case study developer or writer/editor with a business, management, or technology publication and/or as a case study writer at services firm.
• Experience writing/editing for digital channels is useful.

Preferred Skills:
• Broad overall business acumen and knowledge of Accenture’s area of business and overall business strategy.

• Strong project management skills and high attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Experience in in Microsoft Office – including Excel, PPT, Word and Teams
• Demonstrated leadership in professional setting; either military or civilian
• Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting; either military or civilian
