Overview

We are looking for the brightest and best strategic thinkers to join The Dock, Accenture’s global centre for innovation. Our Global Solutions Strategy Senior Manager will lead the Global Play Strategy Team, a talented and ambitious team of business / technology and innovation strategy professionals in The Dock.  The team will relentlessly pursue value across activities at The Dock.  

The Dock is Accenture’s Global R&D and Innovation Centre. We’re a meeting place where Accenture, clients and partners connect to pioneer new ways to fulfil human needs using emerging technology. We work with Accenture, clients and our partners to research and develop new assets, methodologies and thought leadership around key focus areas to accelerate the development of Accenture’s innovation capability globally.

The Dock Play Team help Accenture Leadership accelerate the strategy, design and incubation of new innovative technology-enabled solutions that combine multiple Accenture capabilities and services in a single, scalable proposition. The team works to help shape optimal strategies for a pipeline of solutions to accelerate their time to market.

What you’ll be doing

As Accenture moves onto our next phase of growth there is a growing desire to focus on deepening our Industry role and impact.  One area of growing importance is where Accenture, in conjunction with our partners, can leverage our industry knowledge to build compelling propositions and bring these to market as new global solutions, or “plays” backed by differentiated software.  Many of these solutions require considerable work to develop, refine and design their strategy and bring together the many parts of Accenture and our Partners into a differentiated and compelling market proposition.  This role is for a Senior Manager to lead the team, who will work with teams across Accenture to develop the Plays Strategies.  working with the Play Strategy overall global lead.  The person will report into the Play Strategy overall Global Lead but will also engage with senior leadership across Accenture. 

As Global Solutions Strategy Senior Manager you will:

  • Support the Global Plays Lead to run a pipeline of high value strategy acceleration services to Accenture’s priority investments
  • Work with the Accenture Strategy and Consulting, Industry and Market Unit leadership to review and define the Strategy for a number of plays in a giving financial year.  You will agree, targets and capacity with Dock Leadership on an annual basis with quarterly progress reporting
  • Work with Industry colleagues to develop the commercial proposition for each potential project.  This will include understanding the market (size, maturity, commercial factors and Accenture position) to assess the potential benefits for each proposition
  • Determine optimal strategy and investment case required to achieve success in the market.  Including development of go-to-market strategy, pricing strategy, contracting implications and helping develop differentiation strategy. By extension of this work, you will generate a perspective on the viability of a play.
  • Support our leadership to evaluate and design new business models that will ensure the innovations developed can be sustainable, scalable and deliver value in the market (consumers, clients and Accenture) 
  • Synthesize findings and summarize a broad range of data inputs into frameworks that enable clear communication of data and insights and decision-making
  • Define and refine the methods, tools and approaches used by each Play to develop their strategies
  • Share lessons learned from the team’s acceleration and removal of barriers to scale with the boarder business (e.g. IP Monetisation, ISV engagement, Pricing approach, competition analysis, wins / loss) and leveraging Accenture’s own internal capabilities  
  • Manage key stakeholders to build relationships across Accenture, clients and the wider ecosystem, facilitating senior stakeholder meetings and alignment across firm leadership
  • Take personal responsibility for certain plays and champion them through Accenture, building strong networks and supporting the play through strategy development and into Market.  
  • Mentor and develop junior colleagues, both on and off project teams
  • Take ownership and accountability for shaping and directing own work

Lead the team:

  • Lead a team of talented Play Strategy professions and be responsible for scheduling their work based on demand from the Industries and Accenture Business functions
  • Lead the weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reporting of strategy reviews and accelerations working with the team to uncover key actionable insights and value for our sponsors
  • Develop the team Learning & Development so that the team has the right skills and competencies to be a high performing team
  • Support each member of the team through their work, which involves a high degree of complexity and ambiguity and ensure that the team maintains a high degree of quality
  • Participation in performance achievement for the team including career, succession planning & recruitment to support the ambitions of the team

  • Additionally, you need to be inquisitive, have strong business acumen and entrepreneurial drive combined with the ability to build strong coalitions and partnerships at all levels
  • Work to tight timeframes to shape ideas, create connections and identify opportunities
  • Project manage activities to move from an idea through to delivery with pace & accuracy
  • Have a proven ability to build, manage and foster a team-oriented environment
  • Be extremely solution orientated to succeed in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Take a positive and proactive approach to ambiguity to carve out clarity and clear objectives

Qualifications

Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree, or equivalent
  • Proven track record of leading teams, driving collaboration and stakeholder engagement for new solution development across business functions geographies
  • Experience bringing new products, services and assets to market and maximising IP and intangible assets
  • Strong presence with the ability to communicate and influence at senior management/ executive levels
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, work with schedules, manage resources while focusing on team goals
  • Proactive in approach, self-starter and requires minimum supervision

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

·       Advanced degree desirable (MBS, Masters, PhD or equivalent)

·       Demonstrated applied innovation strategy experience

·       Passionate about developing people so that they fulfil their potential
