About your role

The Design Research Senior Analyst works with the project team in delivering research initiatives; assisting with clearly supporting research objectives and approaches and supports the team in analysing primary and secondary research.. They have a tool kit of methodologies and know when best to deploy them based on project demands, goals and constraints.

Your everyday abilities

  • Supporting the following methodologies:

  • Qualitative research including ethnographic research, design research, UX/UI research, field studies, observational research and focus groups

  • Quantitative research including survey design, synthesising/analysing large-scale data, natural language processing corpora or other large text and experimental design

  • Understanding which methodologies are best to use when asked to answer different client needs and research questions,

  • Ensuring the qualitative work is grounded in a deep and contextual understanding of what matters to the people we are designing for.

  • Ensuring the quantitative work is empirical by nature and obtains statistical rigour when understanding people’s behaviours and attitudes.

  • Supporting and helping lead design research activities including research planning, fieldwork execution, analysis, synthesis, research storytelling, and deliverables.

  • Defining design research plans based on relevant research and business objectives.

  • Supporting lead design research activities at the project level.

  • Supporting new business development efforts by providing expert information in pitch efforts and client meetings.

  • Can collaborate with other designers and data scientists and collaborate on mixed methods work to bring integrated value to our clients.

  • Extras we’d love to see

    • Experience supporting and managing research projects qualitatively and quantitatively from start to finish.

    • Working knowledge of all aspects of research: recruiting processes; scheduling and logistics; protocol development; analysis and framework development; video compilations; research deliverables.

    • Ability to learn new software quickly; experience with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel

    • Familiarity with online research tools and platforms is a plus.

    • Familiarity with R, Python, STATA, SPSS, or any other tool for data analysis.

    • Ability to communicate with clients and partners about research methodologies, analyses, and findings

  • Experience and qualifications
    • 2+ years of in-depth experience of UI/UX design, Digital Product Design or Service Design

    • Qualifications or equivalent experience in Product design, interaction design or related field

    • Human Computer Interaction/ Human factors engineering

    • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams

    • Basic web or native interface development a plus
