What we're looking for
 
Test Managers who can lead a test team to deliver quality outputs in defined timescales. Following either agile or waterfall principles, you will successfully collaborate with multiple partners and colleagues across multiple specialisms which could include; end users, key client representatives, business analysts, designers, developers, operations teams and more.
 
Specific activities can range from preparing and executing tests to defining strategies, implementing process improvements and mentoring others.
 
You will be responsible for helping clients realise the business value they desire, performing all aspects of testing to ensure applications meet business and user needs and are delivered to impeccable standards.
 
Experience Required:
 
Test Strategy Planning and Preparation
 
  • Define the test strategy, required processes and tools
  • Undertake test planning activities for either Agile or Waterfall deliveries
  • Primary test contact and partner concern point
  • Agree and develop QASD and Test Approach documents with Technical / Business leads and the Project Manager including, but not limited to, high level test approach, environment, data and resource requirements and automation approach.
  • Estimate and plan all test phases and activities required to deliver quality product in iterative Agile cycles to required timescales
  • Work closely with test engineers to ensure test planning, scripting, coverage, recording and test execution are performed in line with the test strategy and the overall test plan
  • Adopt a hands-on approach to test scripting and execution
  • Work closely with BA and technical leads to ensure common purpose of delivery on process and plan
  • Handle the sign off of entry and exit criteria per test phase as per standard agreed criteria.
  • Adjudicate and prioritise on varying / conflicting requirements with the Business
  • Manage project risks / issues and raise to Project Manager and IT Delivery Manager as required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and practical experience of test tools and industry standard best practice
  • Identify issues and risks relating to workload, escalate these appropriately and provide suggested mitigating actions
  • Review own test conditions, test scripts / user stories, input test data, and expected results for all test phases
  • Effectively prepare regression, ad hoc and re-tests as required
  • Develop test automation frameworks and test models
 
Test Execution
  • Execute tests deeply to ensure software quality including running automated tests
  • Identify faults/defects
  • For Agile deliveries, contribute to daily scrums, sprint reviews and retrospectives
  • Complete demonstrations to the client on the completed features of the system
  • Record problems and issues in accordance with the project's problem and issue management plans
  • Actively contribute to process improvement initiatives and enhancements to current procedures including recommending quality improvements
  • Test closure reports and gaining sign off from key partners
  • Keep the team and relevant partners informed of progress and any challenges

Test Lead/Manger will, in additional to their core responsibilities, take responsibility for the technology solution, exhibiting deep technical skills or significant lead experience. It will be the responsibility of the Test Lead/Manager to effectively deploy, execute, and deliver testing requirements as well as developing, supporting and
driving the activities of team members.
 
We are most passionate about individuals with prior Test Management experience with the following skills:
 
Technical Skills
 
  • Test automation skills and knowledge of automated test tools for online applications e.g. Selenium (ideally including basic knowledge of Java and Cucumber)
  • Experience Oracle eBS moduels
  • Deep understanding of software architecture technologies (e.g. HTML, VB, .NET, XML, Java, Web Services, SOA, SOAP, Unix/Linux knowledge)
  • Experience of batch scripting/testing
  • Experience of SQL
  • Knowledge of performance test tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter, Gatling
Professional Requirements
  • Min 4 years test lead/management experience
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of QA processes and the Testing industry
  • High-level understanding of systems architecture, web applications and databases
  • Excellent understanding of testing concepts and how testing fits in with the overall project life cycle
  • Fundamental knowledge of testing methodology (V Model, Waterfall, Agile etc.) and testing trends
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle, testing and quality processes
  •  Knowledge of testing methodologies covering both agile and waterfall test delivery practices along with an interest in NewIT
  • Proven ability to deliver high standard deliverables and documentation
  • Ability to review project deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established standards
  • Proven ability to deliver high profile activities to tight timescales
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, with exceptional organizational skills to coordinate cross-functional projects
  • Large scale test delivery capabilities with experience in directly managing large scale distributed test teams, building client relations and ensuring continuous improvements are recognised and implemented. 
  • Proven success in both fostering and contributing to a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong relationship management
  • Capability building and people management skills with a proven ability to lead and develop junior resources
 
Qualifications
 
  • Minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree, or equivalent
  • ISTQB certification or equivalent
  • At least one large project as test lead / /manager
  • Project management certification
