What you will be doing

We are looking for a talented Senior Data engineer to join Accenture’s Centre for Innovation. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team to drive the design and engineering of data components, layers and integration scenarios. As a member of the Software Engineering team of the centre for Innovation, you will be leading the data-aspect of innovative concepts. You will be working on defining data models, designing and engineering data integration/processing components to meet tight data quality and data-access performance targets. You will be providing expertise in advanced data engineering topics. You will be making justified recommendations on data modelling practices, tools and specific technologies to consider. 

Your skills and qualifications 

Required:

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in working with data-intensive software projects
  • Extensive experience of data storage technologies (RDBMS such as MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server; NoSQL e.g. Cassandra, MongoDB; Data Marts & Data Lakes)
  • Extensive experience in designing and engineering data transformation with ETL tools
  • Experience with data-intensive projects involving Big Data, analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence
  • Programming/scripting languages: e.g. Java, Scala, Python, R 
  • Cloud services: e.g. AWS/Azure/Google Cloud/Openstack
  • RESTful Web services and Micro services for data collection/access
  • Experience with agile development (SCRUM, Kanban, etc.) 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with Linux/Unix

 

 Preferred: 

  • Distributed Messaging: e.g. Kafka and Zookeeper
  • Batch processing frameworks: e.g. Spark
  • Real time processing frameworks: e.g. Spark Streaming, Storm, Flink
  • Experience with Data Analysis and Visualization platforms
  • Exposure to BI platforms: IBM Cognos, Microstrategy, Microsoft BI or related
