Hosting the launch of Dublin’s smart city fund within our connected building
By: Miguel Sossa

The Dock recently played host to the launch of the Smart City Fund for Dublin City Council, within the walls of our very own connected building.

An initiative from Smart Dublin and Enterprise Ireland, the fund aims to source smart and low cost innovative solutions to tackle illegal dumping, to monitor and predict blocked gullies in high risk flooding areas and to design wayfinding solutions in the Dublin area.

The launch of the fund brought with it the announcement of three new Small Business Innovation Research competitions, with up to €600k in funding available to participants.

The fund is there to help SMEs with early stage ideas to access public sector procurement opportunities, and it has the potential to create in-demand technologies and innovations, which can be adopted quickly to deliver significant societal impact.

Launching a Smart City Fund in our Connected Building

The Dock is Accenture’s global multidisciplinary research and incubation hub, and the building itself is a living, breathing ecosystem that reacts and adapts to its inhabitants.

As part of our connected building strategy, we've deployed thousands of sensors throughout the building to help enable employee engagement and to promote employee wellness.

The building processes data on everything from temperature and movement, to ambient light and room occupancy, which is fed into a centralised IoT platform.

For our employees, a bespoke mobile app manages building and room access, will help personalise environments, and acts as a gateway for connecting and collaborating with colleagues.

Our IoT platform CPaaS, not only has the power to transform how those co-creating at The Dock experience the workplace, but it can be applied in places like hospitals and airports, enabling greater connection and efficiency of the people and services working there.

You can learn more about our connected building here.
