Tell me about your journey to joining Accenture.

Olga profileDuring my final year of college, I began looking at graduate programmes available to business students in Dublin. I became particularly interested in the TAG Graduate programme after speaking with an Accenture employee at the Grad Fair in the RDS. I joined Accenture as part of the Graduate programme at the beginning of this year (2021) after finishing my undergraduate degree in Global Business in TCD. I was initially supposed to start in September of 2020 but because of the pandemic it was pushed back – so I was delighted to get my start date in January and excited to get going!

Tell me about the work you do?

So far in Accenture I have been on two projects, both of which have been working with SAP’s HR software. The first project I worked on was mainly a learning role, I would shadow meetings and take notes. I then got moved to my second project in which I have been much busier! I work on the Data Migration team, spending most of my days working with excel sheets, communicating with clients and finding ways to solve problems.
Along with my project work I also help out with the community team. Lately, I have helped out with creating a community Newsletter, people profiles for colleagues to get to know each other and organising social events (only virtually for now unfortunately).

What’s the most exciting project you’ve worked on and what made it so exciting?

Having only worked on two projects, I would have to say my second project has been more exciting. This is because of all the hands-on experience I am getting and the amount that I am learning. From communication skills to technical skills – this project has really challenged me and I have really enjoyed the learning curve.

What stands out the most to me is the community and the people. I have already made great friends.
What’s a day-in-the-life like at Accenture?

My mornings usually begin with a team stand-up (a daily call with the team where we go over our progress and align on what we are currently working on). My team are spread across the world so lots of different time zones to keep in mind! The rest of my day is usually spent working with the client’s data on excel and getting it ready to load into the system. I often have calls with other team members when we run into problems so that we can sort it out.
Outside of my project I often have calls with the community team and I have a catch up call with my start group every Friday!

What do you like the most about working at Accenture?

Having worked with Accenture a little under 6 months, what stands out the most to me is the community and the people. I have already made great friends with everyone in my start group. I have also enjoyed the social calls and I am very much looking forward to when they don’t have to be virtual anymore!

What advice would you give to someone interested in the work you do?

If you are in college, definitely go to the grad events and speak to the Accenture people there – they were so helpful for me and gave really good advice. I would also say to reach out to anyone you know working in your area of interest, the more people you talk to the better!
