Meet our people - Mehdi
October 4, 2021
I moved to Dublin and joined The Dock, Accenture's Global Innovation Center, back in 2018. I had spent 11 years in New York before that and had already been working on innovation in the media space. I was immediately attracted by the company's commitment to innovation and new technologies but also the type of projects and profile of companies we work with. I could also identify with the people I met. I strongly believe amazing things can happen when you bring together people with different sets of skills, varied experiences and backgrounds to solve problems. Accenture and The Dock offered that.
I'm a Senior Innovation Lead in the New Products and Services team. Essentially, I drive new product strategy & development opportunities through the entire lifecycle. I work closely with teams of Designers, Engineers, Data Analysts, Commercial Strategists and many more to shape up these opportunities and develop prototypes that can be validated with clients. Once we have validated a solution I work with other Accenture practices to organize their roll-out to market. Most recently I've worked on a series of Cyber Security-related solutions.
Two come to mind. My first project in The Dock related to collaborative analytics and advanced data encryption technology. Fairly edgy stuff. I knew very little about the technology but it was great to get stuck in and figure out how we might use it for a new proposition. A more recent one related to application security. We spent over a year working on it with teams across Asia, Europe and North America. It was complex and a lot of work but the results were impressive. We have really been able to impact the space and strengthen Accenture's offerings as a result of our efforts.

There are so many experiences you can have across Accenture. A lot will depend on your project or client, the stage you are at and the teams you're working with. At the moment, my team and I are in the process of transferring a solution we designed to another group. We are also setting up a pilot of the solution with a new client. So I spend quite a bit of time working with the team on documentation, knowledge transfer activities, scouting for new ideas and various other management duties. A few months ago, my focus would have been more on market research and solution design. So it can vary quite a bit, which is a definite plus in my book.
First, the talented and great people I'm surrounded with. There's always something to learn or a good moment to be had, even in tough times. It's a people-centric organization and it's clear that everyone's help is to needed push the agenda. Second would be the scale and ambition of the company. Projects you work on have the potential to make a massive impact, which is rewarding. It's a place to think big.
We regularly publish articles on the work we do. I suggest reading them to get a better sense of what that work is. We're a big company, so there's also a chance you know someone who knows someone who works for Accenture. Reach out and ask questions. Always remember that there's isn't a unique Accenture experience though, so it's good to speak to a few people. And if it rocks your boat, give it a shot and apply!
