Meet our people - Jennie
September 7, 2021
I joined The Dock in March of 2019; I received a call from the internal recruitment team who had come across my profile on LinkedIn and felt I would be a good fit for them. After a very engaging conversation I was invited for an in-person interview the following week. I was very curious about The Dock and the opportunity on offer but was unsure if I wanted to change roles and commit to a longer commute.
It’s quite hard to pick one, we work across so many industries and domains in The Dock. I have been involved in so many amazing projects; we have created innovative solutions to solve problems in Application Security; Leadership and Culture; Integrated Risk Management; Gene Research. One of my favourite projects so far, has been CALM (conversation analytic language modelling), a real passion project for my team. We are applying Machine Learning and advanced Natural Language Processing techniques to raw call data to generate conversation flows. This detailed analysis has produced many observations on agent-customer behaviours and allowed us to gain valuable insights on how to model effective self-service options. We are all customers, and improving the quality and options for customer care through automated analysis of real human-to-human conversation is an exciting but difficult challenge. I love a challenge.
Every day is an opportunity to learn and challenge yourself. It is also an incredibly friendly place to work.
Interesting, it’s always interesting but in a good way. We don’t get asked to solve simple problems. Project proposals that come to The Dock, or indeed originate from the Dock, are chosen because something has never been done before; or possibly was attempted somewhere, but poorly executed. Problems like this come to us because of our expert multidisciplinary team approach; we assess the problem statement from a Strategy, Commercial, Software Engineering, Data Science and Design lens. Every day is an opportunity to learn and challenge yourself. It is also an incredibly friendly place to work, whether it’s a quick conversation while passing a colleague in the hallway, a longer catch up over a coffee in the canteen or at the kitchen area on each floor, you will have ample opportunity to meet and get to know your many talented and interesting colleagues. The Dock has an energy that is very hard to describe and I know that we are all looking forward to being back together.
I love the Inclusion and Diversity culture because it truly is a culture, it’s not just a catchy tag line. We have amazing global community groups and events from Disability Champions to LGBTQ+. I suppose it is also no surprise for a large global company, but Accenture is a melting pot of different nationalities and cultures, working here offers a wonderful opportunity to find out about different traditions from across the globe.
