The fifth Annual Chinese Student Career Seminar, a collaboration between the Ireland China Business Association (ICBA) and UCD Smurfit, was a big success. Over 120 participants attended the in-person, on campus event, which featured panel discussions from both an alumni and employer perspective on how best to land a job in Ireland.
Accenture Consulting Analyst Katy Amos represented Accenture’s APAC and ME on the panel and shared her personal journey on moving to Ireland from Hong Kong, why she decided to stay and look for a job in Ireland after university, and her top tips for the job hunting and interview process.
Alongside panellists from Bank of Ireland, Tik Tok, Huawei, Pinterest, SHEIN and more, they had a candid discussion about the cultural differences between workplaces in China and Ireland, the various impacts of Covid, and the most important skills young graduates possess today.
Also, attendees had the opportunity to learn from the wisdom of senior leaders, David Kenny, Huawei, and the Dean, Prof. Tony Brabazon, who closed out the event.
The evening finished in the Smurfit Lounge where a networking event allowed current students to meet the panellists, with entertainment in the way of a recital on the Guzheng provided by the UCD Chinese Students and Scholars Association.
