Calling Future Coders
By: Mark Dineen

We had a super evening recently with our friends from CoderDojo; launching our first Dojo of the new term at Silicon Docks and celebrating their fifth birthday with lots of coding and cake.

We kicked off our CoderDojo with over 60 ninjas, mentors and supporters coming along to Accenture The Dock. We were also delighted to welcome the new Executive Director of CoderDojo, Giustina Mizzoni, presenting her with a cool Lego CoderDojo plaque and a ninja cake for their fifth birthday. All of the ninja’s had the opportunity to meet our new Centre Robot called Pepper and get stuck in with some new hardware and software programmes including Raspberry Pi, Lightbot, HTML and Scratch.

We also spoke at the CoderDojo industry panel over at Dogpatch labs highlighting the importance of developing these skills in our children. Coding skills are critical for our children today and for our future. That’s why we are partnering with CoderDojo to help kids to develop these skills in a fun and informal learning environment. We look forward to continuing to grow our Dojo at Silicon Docks when we move into our new connected building at 7 Hanover Quay and encourage new ninjas aged 7 to 17 years old to join us.
