Although we’re still only four months in, 2017 has already been an enormously eventful and productive year for the Health and Life Sciences Team here at The Dock.
We’ve worked with numerous clients to identify and produce innovative solutions to challenges facing their businesses, hosted the first of many Health 2.0 Dublin events at The Dock, and, to top it off, travelled to Barcelona to take to the stage at Health 2.0 Europe!
The healthcare industry as a whole is experiencing massive disruption; firstly, life expectancy has dramatically increased, which is putting further pressure on already buckling health care systems, which is in-turn triggering a surge in healthcare costs.
Secondly, consumers now expect a more personalised, digital experience that they traditionally never had during interactions with healthcare providers.
A combination of the above factors has paved the way for an influx of innovative products and services developed to meet the needs of the digital savvy consumer.
At Accenture, we’re collaborating with clients operating within the healthcare industry to help them tackle the challenges facing their businesses.
A big part of this involves facilitating the necessary conversations between start-ups developing disruptive technologies, and the large healthcare providers that are looking to adapt their business models to the new digital age.
The Accenture HealthTech Innovation Challenge plays a key role here.
It brings together start-ups, life sciences companies and healthcare organisations to tackle the world's biggest health issues, acting as a catalyst between clients and these new digital players.
After a hugely successful inaugural event in 2016 that saw 500 start-ups enter the challenge, we took to the stage at Health 2.0 Europe to announce the 2017/18 Accenture HealthTech Innovation Challenge.
This year’s challenge will have its home at The Dock, so stay tuned on Twitter for more details that’ll be released in the coming weeks.
