The Beginning of My Accenture Journey
By: Fiona Lawlor
My Accenture Journey began about a year and a half ago now, in May 2013, when I heard that I had received a place on the Accenture Internship Programme. I had just finished my third year studying psychology and sociology, and I was so excited at the thought of spending my summer working at something completely different than I had ever done before.
My internship experience did not disappoint. It was hard work and very challenging, but at the same time it was fun, interesting and exciting, and it gave me a brilliant introduction into my future career as an Accenture analyst. After a week-long induction session, all six of the three month interns were immediately assigned to a client, which gave us a very real insight into the work that Accenture does. I was assigned to a large-scale project on a big financial services client, along with three other interns, which was a fantastic experience.
Overall, my internship was definitely a summer well spent- I made many new friends, I got an introduction into the life of a consultant, and I had plenty of fun along the way. As an added bonus, at the end of my internship I also got the chance to interview for a place on the graduate programme, and I am now back working in Accenture today :)
