Getting Involved in Accenture Life
By: Fiona Lawlor
Whilst the biggest priority of everybody’s day to day life in Accenture is, of course, their project work, Accenture really do encourage their employees to also get involved in other areas of the organisation. This is a really great aspect of Accenture- as it is such a huge company, it is fantastic to be invited to so many social events and to get the chance to get involved in societies, as this really helps new joiners to get to know other like minded individuals within the organisation.

Since joining Accenture I have become involved with the ‘University Action Team’ which is responsible for on-campus graduate recruitment events. Getting involved in this team has definitely been one of the highlights of my time in Accenture to-date. Firstly, it is great to get the opportunity to go back to college and to meet all of the students who are interested in following a similar career path to myself, and I really enjoy telling people all about my time at Accenture so far. Secondly, having attended so many Accenture events whilst I was a college student myself, it is really great to get an understanding of how all of the events, such as the Trinity Digital Assembly and the Accenture Experience evenings, are run behind the scenes, and to get a real insight into the huge amount of work and dedication that goes into organising such events. Getting involved in this team has taught me a lot, it has been a really great way to meet other analysts and consultants within Accenture, and it has also been extremely enjoyable.

As well as the University Action Team, I have also made an effort to get involved in society life in Accenture. Accenture offers all employees the opportunity to get involved in a huge number of clubs and societies, including a surf club, ski club, golf club, multisports club and cooking club. Again, getting involved in these clubs and societies provides another fantastic opportunity to meet and get to know other people in Accenture. One society that I have become involved in is the surfing society, and I am even going on a surf trip to Bundoran with this club in two weeks time which I am really looking forward to!! These trips have a reputation for being great fun, and I will write another blog about the trip once I return :)
