Eltel Norway to strengthen market leadership and improve customer satisfaction with IFS Field Service Management
IFS, the global enterprise applications company, announces that Eltel Norway has chosen IFS Field Service Management™ (IFS FSM) and Accenture to help strengthen its position as the leading provider of technical services for critical infrastructure networks for power and communications in the Nordics, Poland, and Germany. IFS FSM will be implemented as Eltel’s core technology platform.
In 2017, Eltel Norway initiated a mobile workforce transformation program to strengthen its market leadership and optimize service operations. A key enabler was to identify a market-leading mobile workforce solution for Eltel’s service assurance operation in Norway. After careful consideration, Eltel chose IFS Field Service Management including functionality for planning & scheduling optimization and customer engagement. KLM has taken a strategic decision to consolidate their MRO application landscape and to implement a substantial part of their MRO processes in the industry standard tool Maintenix: Base Maintenance, Engineering and Line Maintenance. Accenture has a key role in the implementation of Maintenix for Line Maintenance & MCC for the airline’s entire fleet consisting of several Wide Body and Narrow Body fleet.

End-2-end business process analysis, definition of process requirements, alignment with existing Base Maintenance and Engineering processes

To get ahead, companies need to cut the time between innovation and action. That’s the reason why Accenture and IFS are joining forces to accelerate IoT initiatives in areas such as predictive maintenance, service management, asset management and manufacturing.
With a focus on Industry X.0, the collaboration will extend the capabilities of IFS solutions by adding Accenture’s expertise in helping clients explore ways to reach new levels of efficiency and agility, unlock new sources of growth, and deliver personalized experiences through smart connected digital technologies.
To kick off the collaboration, Accenture and IFS met outside of Munich, Germany for a workshop at Accenture’s new Industrial IoT Innovation Center in Garching. The center accelerates innovation initiatives and brings them to life by giving clients hands-on experience. And creates opportunities for clients to collaborate with experts to co-create better experiences for their customers and improve business outcomes for their companies.
The workshop delivered actions that will shape the go-to-market strategy of the alliance: IFS will serve as an official IIoT partner and develop a proof of concept available to visitors of Accenture’s Industrial IoT Innovation Center in Garching. Use case scenarios will be developed to identify common customer pain points. And solutions for avoiding them while mitigating risk and supporting customers’ business performance.

Systembolaget is a Swedish, government-owned monopoly retailer of alcoholic beverages. It operates around 430 fully owned stores and 500 agents, has more than 5,000 employees, over 700 suppliers and sells around 15,000 articles. The company turnover is 26bn SEK (~3bn USD). Accenture has delivered a broad range of services to Systembolaget for more than 10 years, primarily in the areas of web and BI/analytics. Systembolaget has had IFS as an ERP solution for more than 10 years.
BUSINESS OBJECTIVES, CHALLENGES AND DRIVERS
Systembolaget needs to upgrade their IFS ERP-solution. They are upgrading directly from IFS 7.5 to IFS 9. The upgraded solution is to go live in autumn of 2016. Together with the upgrade, Systembolaget has identified a number of business improvement initiatives, grouped in three functional projects as part of one transformation program–MAS. As part of the MAS program, Systembolaget aims to remove over 200 customizations but are also reviewing and renewing the IFS maintenance function. The overall business objectives are to reduce overall TCO for IFS and reduce the technical risks related to an old platform. In addition, the different functional initiatives all have separate business cases.
HOW ACCENTURE AND IFS ARE HELPING
The program is delivered as a three-way cooperation between Systembolaget, IFS and Accenture, who all perform roles in the joint program according to their respective strengths. Systembolaget leads the program management, process and requirements, and change management functions. Accenture supports program management, leads project management, test management, conversion and deployment, while IFS leads technical development and upgrades, functional and technical design, and technical/solution architecture. Resources from all three parties perform roles in most functions.
In the first release, Accenture and IFS are delivering services side-by-side, with responsibility split according to the above roles. In the second release, Accenture is in the lead with IFS primarily as support. The program is delivered both locally and offshore: The IFS delivery center in Sri Lanka and Accenture IFS Center of Excellence in Hyderabad.
Systembolaget chose Accenture as its partner alongside IFS in the program delivery to not only put together a joint, high-performance project team, but also to benefit from Accenture’s program delivery experience and methodology (ADM). Systembolaget’s objectives for targeting partner-delivery in IFS maintenance are to benefit from a partnership with substantial industry experience and a flexible offshore model to minimize TCO. One additional objective was to enable future competitive tendering.
