I am a Contract Manager (CM) of two global client accounts running in the products industry. We are doing Application Outsourcing and System Integration work for them.
In Accenture there are 2-3 key areas to contract management: Legal, Contracts & Commercial management. I do Contract & Commercial management: besides ensuring control over fundamental compliance matters (in-scope to Accenture internal and external standards & guidelines, as well as to those terms associated to a particular contract), I act as an interface between various client and Accenture work streams, such as Legal, Procurement, Service Delivery Operations, Finance.
While a contract manager is not a solution architect, not a CFM, nor a delivery lead; thanks to the insight into all these subject-matters, and with being able to comment or challenge the discussions with these functions, a good CM can secure integrity between contract terms & conditions, commercials and the way we deliver our services operationally. The end goal is the contract’s financial health and that we deliver values to our clients that differentiate us from the competition.
There is no typical day – I really enjoy the colorful and wide range of activities I cover – they never let me get bored and nor do our clients with their unexpected turns and sense of making things complicated.
I have a great pleasure to work with people who I very much respect for the way they organize and do their jobs.
Outside the Office
I am trying to spend as much quality time as I can with family and friends.
Although I cannot always find the appropriate amount of time and opportunities, I like sports that carry a little extremity and give a genuine feel of freedom. I have been doing skeet-shooting for years now, and I am preparing for my next level certificate in scuba diving. I ski and I roller-skate.
It sometimes ends up being demanding to successfully navigate between various internal work streams and the clients’ organizations. As long as one can find the appropriate motivators and language across all the involved parties, the positive outcome and achieved objectives are granted. And I think the same can very well be said about any everyday non-work related situation.
