Gong’s career journey at Accenture is per se a reflection of growth for the Greater China practice. The practice grew from less than 100 employees in 1990s to a team of more than 11,000 professionals now, servicing our clients with strong end-to-end and localized capabilities across Strategy, Consulting, Digital, Technology and Operations.
At the event, Gong expressed his most sincere appreciation to all alumni and employees who have contributed to the growth of the practice in the past two decades. “Some people run full marathon, some run half marathon and some run five kilometers. Regardless, I am happy to be part of the team with you in this journey.”
Many participants flew all the way from outbound to Shanghai to participate in the event including Brian Wilson, co-founder of Accenture Greater China and Gong’s mentor. Brian recalled that the business in China in 1990’s was relatively small, but picked up very fast over the years under Gong’s leadership.
Our Chairwoman and Gong’s successor Chuan Neo Chong shared her gratitude to Gong, “I know that I speak on behalf of many people in Greater China when I say that Gong is a leader of leaders and he exemplifies stewardship. In the past months, I have had the privilege of working closely with Gong and I saw a leader who lived the Accenture Way and embraced our core values in everything that he does.”
“We are grateful to Gong for the legacy that he has left in Greater China. He has built a solid foundation from which we can accelerate our growth and become more relevant, differentiated and competitive in the local marketplace as we embrace the New Accenture.”
Alumni and employees shared at the event how Gong guided them on their Accenture journey.
Steven Han, former senior consultant, Change Management, “I remember there is once we worked late at night in the office, Gong walked in carrying a bucket of apples. Those big, red apples remind me what a caring and inspirational leader Gong is.”
Brian Yuan, former Managing Director – Products, “Gong said being at Accenture is to carry upon ourselves a kind of behavior, the one we shall inherit from predecessors and pass to newcomers.”
Nana Li, former executive assistant to Gong, “He is a father-like figure to me. He encourages me and gives me the chances to pursue the career I aspire.”
