Every year, the Technology Vision team partners with Accenture Research to pinpoint the emerging IT developments that will have the greatest impact on companies, government agencies, and other organizations in the next three to five years. These trends have significant impact across industries, and are actionable for businesses today.
The research process begins with gathering input from the Technology Vision External Advisory Board, a group comprising more than two dozen experienced individuals from the public and private sectors, academia, venture capital, and entrepreneurial companies. In addition, the Technology Vision team conducts interviews with technology luminaries and industry experts, as well as nearly 100 Accenture business leaders from across the organization.
For the third year, we conducted a global survey of more than 5,400 business and IT executives in 31 countries to understand their perspectives on the impact of technology in business, and to identify their technology strategy and priority investments for the next few years. The survey was fielded from November 2016 through January 2017.
This year’s research report is all about technology for people. The five IT trends in the 2017 Technology Vision will empower people to invent and achieve more in the era of the intelligent enterprise.
The Progression of People First
Each year’s Accenture Technology Vision report highlights the latest technology trends, but as part of a larger multi-year picture. The 2016 Vision highlighted the importance of people in this age of digital disruption, and the 2017 report’s “Technology for People” message is the next progression of the People First theme. Each of this year’s IT trends connects to those from previous years, charting the paths that digital businesses have pursued as they adapt and grow.
