Senior Managers Regime: Strengthening Accountability in Change Governance

With the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR) taking effect in the UK in March 2016, capital markets firms are facing a new set of compliance challenges and opportunities. The SM&CR increases the scope and accountability of approved persons, providing an occasion for firms to reconsider their change governance. It’s a welcome opportunity given the numerous major regulatory and commercially driven change programs underway in many organizations.

In this paper, we take a high-level look at SM&CR requirements and examine how firms can improve oversight of their change portfolios.
