HOW IT WORKS

OVERCOMING BARRIERS INTO WORK
Movement to Work was founded in 2013 to help young disadvantaged people overcome one of the biggest barriers into work, which is the cycle of: “no job, no experience; no experience, no job"
EMPLOYER-LED COLLABORATION
The Movement brings together employers, both large and small, to offer young people access to high quality vocational training and work experience opportunities, linked where possible to entry-level jobs or apprenticeships to create sustainable employment.
WORK PLACEMENTS
Employers design and roll out placements to complement their own business and operating model. The aspiration is to run a number of placements equivalent to 1% of their UK workforce.
GROWTH THROUGH COMMERCIAL NETWORKS
Larger employers run campaigns to recruit new members from their commercial networks (supply chains, customers, partners and affiliates etc.) to create a multiplier effect. Often these employers will then act as mentors to the new recruits, sharing lesson learned and sustainable ways of setting up programmes of placements.
TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAMMES
Accenture played a leading role in establishing the Movement along with several FTSE 100 companies. As part of our pledge, we have designed our own training and work experience programmes called Go Tech and Go Digital designed to kick start young people’s careers in technology and digital.
TECHNOLOGY AND DIGITAL APPRENTICESHIPS
Our programmes are rolled out across London, Newcastle, Manchester and the Thames Valley. After completing the programmes young people move into technology and digital apprenticeships with Accenture, other corporates and small and medium sized enterprises.
