LONDON; Mar. 7, 2016 – Accenture and the Fashion Retail Academy (FRA) have created the ‘Level 4 Fast Track Digital Fashion Retail’ course to equip fashion students with the digital skills critical in today’s technology-driven business environment.
The course combines theoretical learning with practical experience, including a three-week work-placement position with a high street fashion brand. Designed by Accenture and the FRA in conjunction with leading retailers and selected digital agencies, the course covers four key areas: Mobile and analytics technologies; digital marketing; creative/Web design; and digital trading.
“As a result of digital technology, the retail environment is advancing more quickly than ever before,” said Lucy Larkin, managing director in Accenture’s UK and Ireland Retail practice. “This is particularly true in the UK, where e-commerce capabilities are more advanced than those of many other countries. As a result, retailers are struggling to meet the demand for digital skills, and this gap will only increase if the issue isn’t addressed immediately. Students who graduate from this course—whose curriculum we developed in conjunction with leading retailers—should have some fantastic job opportunities within the retail sector.”
Intended for students who wish to gain an entry-level fashion position with a digital focus or who are already in the industry and want to upskill, the course starts March 29 and will run for 22 weeks, two days a week, in the FRA’s new digital hub in central London. Businesses may also use the course to train existing employees in digital technologies.
Lee Lucas, Principal & CEO, Fashion Retail Academy said: “As with many of our courses, we felt it was important for students to have a mix of practical and theoretical experience. We offer a number of master classes from a variety of senior executives in the fashion retail industry, and together with Accenture’s deep experience in digital, this course will ensure that the students gain a complete understanding of the challenges the industry faces in the area of digital/technology. We believe this is the only course developed specifically to train and prepare young people with the digital skills they need to go into retail e-commerce in the UK.”
