How I put change in motion

As an Associate Manager for Deal Execution in HR Ventures and Acquisitions, I’m responsible for completing HR analyses into companies that Accenture may be planning to acquire.

I then help welcome and transition onboarding employees from acquired companies into the Accenture family. This includes total-rewards analysis, career-level mapping, running information sessions and so much more. I’m also part of the HR Community team, with a focus on recognition programmes.

My TAP experience

The Talent Accelerator Programme (TAP) application experience was really positive. Everyone I encountered was happy to help and clearly wanted us all to succeed. I was so excited to be accepted because, as a recent graduate, this was my first big step in a full-time career.

By far, the most exciting part of TAP was the first international travel I’d ever done on my own. I spent three months exploring Melbourne, Australia, working with the brilliant Australian HR team. I loved being able to represent TAP there.

TAP allowed me to get comfortable with the uncomfortable—to really get out of my comfort zone. I was regularly learning to use different tools, systems and techniques, and working with new people all the time.

A day in my life

My typical day starts with a coffee, then a series of collaborations with others: sharing ideas, discussing incoming employee experiences and helping address employees’ concerns.

The joy of a day in TAP is the variety. No two days are ever the same, especially as you rotate through various departments. You become such a well-rounded HR professional thanks to the ever-changing experiences and the need to get comfortable with new situations.

Since “all work and no play might make Laura a dull girl,” my favorite activity outside of work is practicing with a central London competitive cheerleading team. (Did you know that cheerleading is now an Olympic sport?)

My advice

Be open to the occasional “look-back” or lessons-learned sessions. They are an important part of the continuous learning process that ensures everyone's knowledge is up to date.
