Overview

This key client-centric role is responsible for the design, delivery and leadership of complex, large-scale programmes and the achievement of agreed budgetary targets. The Lead Consultant is a strategic partner for clients’ C- suite executives, designing effective solutions anchored in The Storytellers’ approach and methodology, capable of building and maintaining long-term senior client relationships.

The Lead Consultant plays a significant role in the development of The Storytellers’ Consulting capability, driving successful high-quality delivery across teams as a role model and expert, and executing strategic initiatives that support long-term business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the strategic and structural design of medium-sized integrated story-driven programmes for context enterprise clients: interrogating and identifying the clients’ ambitions, strategic imperatives and desired business outcomes; adopting/ adapting The Storytellers’ methodology and tools or developing new products when required; setting an appropriate approach to programme measurement.

  • Develop trusted client relationships with Senior Executives across functions, managing client expectations and positioning The Storytellers as strategic partners.

  • Lead on the long-term Activation plan for a client’s strategy in collaboration with the TS Client Sponsor to grow and strengthen relationships.

  • Understand the role of strategic creativity in partnership with strategic consulting - the increased value it brings to our clients, what good ideas look like and the tools that power them - as well as the role creativity plays in our long-term ambition for Activation.

  • Lead the discovery process to uncover clients' key strategic challenges at the C-Suite level and develop internal brief. Direct interdisciplinary delivery teams to design and deliver appropriate integrated solutions, making sure that our programmes deliver on the brief and achieve the desired business outcomes for clients and programme metrics.

  • Coach and mentor Senior Consultants and Consultants on Client Account Planning, aiming at increasing the scope and scale of our services, and driving multi-year commitments. Facilitate conversations with clients around the Client Account plan.

  • Deliver individual sales and profitability targets of £600K+ per financial year.

  • Demonstrate storytelling expertise internally and externally (with clients and various stakeholders). Master The Storytellers' interdisciplinary methodology, Consulting best practice and tools. Role-model, coach and mentor internal teams to help them build their knowledge and develop necessary skills.

  • Facilitate impactful C-Suite-level interventions such as workshops, leadership conferences and events.

  • Provide storytelling coaching support to clients’ C-suite Executives.

  • Scan emerging client needs, industry trends and competitive offering to identify Product improvements and future product solutions.

  • Actively contribute to The Storytellers’ public profile building through thought leadership, high-profile speaking engagements, social platforms and networking with Executive audiences.

  • Provide support with leadership of the Consulting function by developing the team and leading on specific parts of the business plan / strategy.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

Passionate and with an inherent understanding of strategic narratives and storytelling within a business setting, and a desire to adopt and develop The Storytellers’ approach and methodology. We are looking for a confident management consultant with solid experience of managing projects involving C-suite Executives from multinational, blue-chip organisations.

  • Deep knowledge and passion for strategy, culture change, employee engagement, organisational development, leadership development and learning and development, underpinned by a solid understanding of organisational and behavioral change theory

  • Proficient in Executive facilitation and event navigation, including 1:1 coaching and medium-to-large-scale event facilitation

  • High level of emotional intelligence and ability to quickly build meaningful relationships at all levels internally and externally: senior Executives, peers, reporting teams

  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to grow client opportunities

  • Project management skills, including workload and resources planning

  • Leadership skills: team management and development

  • A lateral thinker who enjoys solving complex problems and is capable of dealing with ambiguous client briefs and unexpected challenges

  • Excellent command of English (verbal and written)

  • A true team player, ability to work cross-functionally

  • Intellectually curious, genuinely interested (‘sponge’, not ‘rock’)

  • Naturally consultative; seeking first to understand, then to be understood

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, with a solutions-oriented attitude
