The Role:

The Account Director is a highly motivated and organised individual with a deep passion for creative. They have mastered the basics and exhibit them to immaculate standard without thinking. They are the leader of a team of like-minded, driven individuals and work closely with their client partners to create the best possible conditions for outstanding creative work.

This position requires someone who can manage expectations, multi-task, communicate effectively, delegate and efficiently deliver projects against timelines. They are born communicators who can build strong, lasting relationships very quickly. They are the eyes, ears and engines of their account.

Role Responsibilities:

Client Management

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with key stakeholders, acting as the clients trusted strategic advisor within the agency. From the client’s perspective, they are responsible for the entirety of their account- their go-to person.
  • Ensure clients understand agreed workflows and manage them through the delivery process – showing flexibility where tenable and constructively challenging out of scope requests, providing practical advice to achieve a solution.
  • Be able to work with both Global clients and other Spark44 offices across multiple regions and countries whilst showing an understanding of cultural differences and demonstrating emotional intelligence.
  • Confident presenter, able to deliver presentations and briefs passionately where required.

Creative Development

  • Act as a Brand Guardian, immersing yourself in all product developments and be able to advise on industry and technology trends and developments both inside Spark44 and whilst working with client/other agencies.
  • Clearly communicate and support the creative team with the client’s brief, ensuring the client’s voice is not lost, but the creative boundaries are still pushed.
  • The Account Director is responsible for creating the best environment for the highest creative output. As such, they need an excellent “eye” for creative output, recognising strong creative work, when work could be improved and how to do it.
  • Be able to express personal opinions on creative work which are strategically sound and carefully thought through. They will be prepared to debate & defend these both internally and with clients in constructive, challenging and non-confrontational ways.
  • Working collaboratively with the Strategy team to create briefs and to identify key strategic objectives as well as creative opportunities.
  • Understanding of key performance metrics to audit campaign success, including social metrics.


Qualifications

Operational

  • Take an active role in supporting the Business Director managing the Scope of Work. They will build this together, using the insights gained from their client relationship and then deliver against it once agreed.
  • Assist account managers to write creative, studio, DX (web-related), and production briefs on a regular basis and lead briefing sessions internally and/or externally with clients and partner agencies.
  • Demonstrate ability to write, prepare and present documents / presentations / reports that are persuasive, factually accurate – and result in the progression of excellent work.
  • Working closely and collaboratively with production/project management to ensure work is progressed through the delivery process and completed: on time, on brief and on budget.

Leadership

  • Support the Business Director with quarterly review feedback and setting objectives for more junior members of the team. The Account Director will take an active role in their professional development.
  • Delegate projects to the wider team, whilst keeping an overview of workloads to ensure they can grow and flourish without being overwhelmed.
  • Identify resource and development needs within the eam and work collaboratively with the BD/HR to find and retain strong Talent.
  • Have an excellent eye for detail and extremely high standards to act as an example to junior members of the account team.
  • Implement organised systems in order to ensure all projects are on track and guide junior teams by providing support to ensure timely delivery of jobs.
  • Understand and adopt the usage of internal tools and systems to ensure clear end-to-end processes.

Commercial Acumen

  • Demonstrate a clear working knowledge of the agreed Scope of Work (SOW) and the status of projects.
  • Identify opportunities and requirements that could lead to incremental revenue and resource.
  • Ensure clients are aware of any out of scope work, working with project management/production to provide associated estimation of work/time/costs
  • Quickly learn and account for internal and external approval processes, always maintaining awareness of the next check in.
  • Ensure a thorough understanding of the contractual obligations, commercial arrangements & SLAs of the account – escalating when necessary to avoid commercial risk.
  • Take an active lead in remaining on top of financial tracking and all cost reconciliations for each business area.
