Location: London, Manchester, Newcastle

Travel: up to 100% (variable)

The Global Cities & Infrastructure team: The Global Cities and Infrastructure Industry team is a dedicated centre of excellence within our Global Health and Public Service business; it’s is a hub of specialised practitioners responsible for tailoring the very best of Accenture and bringing it to our global cities and infrastructure clients around the world; helping to build on our existing footprint with over 80 cities and to deliver real-world outcomes for our cities and infrastructure clients.

We work with on a global basis. Our responsibility is to work collaboratively within internal and external partners and client account leads to originate, grow and sustain the overall portfolio of Accenture’s work with city and infrastructure clients – this spans cities large and small and it encapsulates state and national infrastructure clients and a growing number of transportation and urban mobility clients; where we see considerable growth.

We work closely with the local market teams to guide / drive their GTM strategy, support individual bids and around 50% of your time you will be involved as an expert resource in delivery.

You will be an externally facing thought leader – a social ambassador and present on the conference circuit and blogging to articulate Accenture’s point of view. You will help build a market-differentiating ecosystem of actors large and small that enrich our solutions to clients.

You will drive the research agenda – engaging with external partners often to co-create innovative Cities and Infra research. You will be passionate about the power of New IT and responsible for horizon scanning and understand the impacts of future technologies on our industry and helping our clients to capitalise on these opportunities and proactively mitigate risks.

We are a global team based out of the UK. We have practitioners in almost all regions supporting our global growth efforts and regular contacts with those teams. We have internally allocated funding which we can use to bring in resources to support us in our day to day work and to invest in repeatable assets and capability development.

Role Responsibilities

This role is typically occupied by a senior practitioner ; we are looking for a strong/ambitious manager with fast paced career aspirations, a self-starter who will have responsibility for the sizeable consulting portfolio that is part of our global business. This includes support on all of the above activities to help grow our profitable consulting sales and revenue and brand positioning, and to build our internal industry consulting capabilities. You will be expected to interface with senior leadership across the firm and senior practioners outside the firm and to report monthly to the global Public Services overall industry lead.

You will be a part of the core team flexing between chargeable work, business development, asset development and thought leadership.

As the Global Cities and Infrastructure Consulting Lead, you’ll be responsible for the growth of our business with cities and infrastructure clients in “Consulting”. You will often be focused on the following:

  • Growth - Responsible for Accenture’s Consulting Business globally by setting the strategy and direction for growth. This includes reporting on the monthly sales & revenue numbers
  • Offering development: Working with the global offering team to define and advance the “Cities and Infrastructure” offering and create a playbook for our refreshed offering structure. We expect you to work with internal experts to test and iterate the offerings and to link offerings to credentials and Accenture experience, as well as developing the core positioning and messaging for the offerings. This also includes assisting in developing sales collateral and tools.
  • Develop Local Go2Market Strategies: Working with our client account teams; partner ecosystem, industry teams and global offering teams; to define the go to market strategy for priority regions; based on the demand for the services that the market will consume; and at relevant price points; staying ahead of the competition and at top of the industry and technology innovation. An ability to identify opportunities based on your deep understanding of our offerings and our client’s issues.
  • Ecosystem: Working with external third parties (public, private, academic and third sector) to assess partnership opportunities.
  • Market maker: Identifying and engaging industry events/conferences for marketing opportunities. Creating POVs and developing original research

Preferred Skills:

We expect you to have the following skills:

  • Solid understanding of the Cities or Infrastructure sector
  • Work independently with strong self motivating skills
  • Strong communication skills with good understanding of how to navigate in different cultural settings.
  • An ability to articulate and clearly communicate complex problems and solutions in a simple and logical manner.
  • Experience understanding business challenges and explaining how our offerings and services provide value.
  • Experience identifying a client’s high-level business needs and leading the creation of detailed solutions
  • Well-developed analytical skills and the ability to provide clarity to complex issues and synthesize large amounts of information.
  • Insights on key methodologies, approaches and market trends in the industry
  • An ability to inspire teams to deliver to a high standard in a suitable timeframe.
  • Experience understanding team strengths, and the ability to coach and develop others.
  • Fluent written and spoken English skills
In addition we are looking for someone who has experience in most of the following areas:

  • Comfort conveying both high-level and detailed information, adjusting the way ideas are presented to better address varying social styles and audiences.
  • Experience structuring activities that play to a team's strengths and provide opportunities for others to grow.
  • Advanced PowerPoint skills
  • Nice to Have: additional language skills such as French or German to support our European growth effort; Design thinking skills to engage in internal and external content creations; experience in digital tools and technologies
