What responsibilities will you have?


Capital Markets is a 200+ strong team of Industry practitioners and joined by experts from our technology, digital & strategy business areas we have over 600 people consulting in the world’s top tier Investment Banks, Asset & Wealth Managers, and Market Infrastructure firms.


Overall our practice is split into three main Sub-Practices (Trading Services, Post Trade & AWAMS) aligned to our key client priorities. These sub-practices help us to effectively grow industry relationships, content knowledge, functional expertise and consulting skills. The sub-practices are broken down further into communities, which develop deep skills in specific areas.


It’s important to understand what you might be doing on a day to day basis, and how this might differ from your current position, to make sure Accenture is the right place for you. Most Consultants and Managers spend the majority of their time working on client sites, delivering a project, with the expectation of extra-curricular responsibilities and practice building on the side. Projects vary dramatically in size and length, with a typical project lasting 6 to 9 months with a group 5 to 10 people, meaning you have exposure to a range of clients, projects and roles.


Key Responsibilities


1. Delivery Within Financial Services Change Projects

  • Working within project teams to support clients in delivering their project objectives
  • Working with a team to define a business solution that may include defining business architecture, process design and delivery activities whilst driving the development of improved capabilities
  • Executing business analysis and / or project management activities such as gap analysis, requirements gathering / definition, functional specifications, risk / issue management, project planning etc.
  • Facilitating teams and supporting workshops / meetings across multiple phases of the project delivery lifecycle
  • Working within multidisciplinary teams across both business and technology to execute project deliverables


2. Working Alongside Clients and Building Relationships

  • Be able to demonstrate credibility to work alongside / with client SME’s and team leaders
  • Developing trusted relationships with clients, target clients and internal experts as part of project delivery
  • Understanding and representing Accenture’s Capital Markets capabilities with clients and acting as a trusted partner
  • Helping to build an understanding of our clients’ business and challenges and participating in identifying solutions for their business needs within the Accenture Capital Markets team
  • Working with blended client and Accenture project teams and helping to establish working relationship within a team environment


3. Supporting Creation and Shaping of Sales Opportunities

  • Supporting the Accenture executives in the development of business opportunities that are aligned with client agendas and creating value driven sales propositions for Accenture’s key clients
  • Helping to develop compelling business cases and responses to new business opportunities and requests for proposals within proposal response teams
  • Participating in opportunity development campaigns that build upon Accenture’s delivery capabilities as part of the Capital Markets team


4. Building Part of Accenture’s Capital Markets Capability

  • Supporting the creation of Thought Leadership assets and participating in Communities of Practice within Accenture as part of specialist teams that meet specific client challenges
  • Support the building of Accenture’s Capital Markets practice through people development and mentoring of more junior team members
  • Helping to build Accenture assets and accelerators that can be used to enhance Accenture’s Capital Markets practice offerings



What skills & experience are we looking for?

Alongside the above, we would expect you to display a range of the following skills or experiences:

  • A strong academic background
  • Understanding of the Investment Banking Industry as a whole, including Front, Middle and Back office processes and a high-level understanding of the trade lifecycle
  • Experience of working within an investment banking environment with an understanding of the cash, securitized and derivative markets in either a direct or consulting capacity
  • Experience of managing projects / programmes, implementing IT solutions or redesigning processes, in some of the following areas: sales, pricing, settlements, trade processing, position management, portfolio management, risk management and finance
  • Understanding full life-cycle IT implementation coupled with a strong understanding of the inherent business challenges and processes within those areas
  • Well-developed analytical skills including ability to work with poorly defined problems, provide clarity to complex issues or situations and synthesise large amounts of information and highlight salient points
  • Ability to work with senior clients and propose creative solutions to investment banking problems
  • Consultant level recruits are expected to have played a major role in the delivery of a project/programme in the areas described above, e.g. a design lead, development lead, test lead, etc.
  • We expect experienced hires to be excited about joining the practice and give details of practice building activities that they have completed in their previous roles displaying leadership qualities
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment with excellent client relationship / interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and a strong professional presence. This should include excellent written (structured documents, presentations) and verbal communication skills, for example, facilitation of meetings, presentation of materials)
  • From a functional perspective, individuals will likely have experience of working within one or more of the following disciplines:
    • Knowledge of investment banking technology and front to back processes
    • Experience of designing, planning and leading investment banking projects
    • Equities / Fixed Income / Derivatives experience
    • Cloud computing skills and knowledge
    • Custody fund services knowledge and experience
    • Capital or collateral optimisation experience
    • Data driven analytics & digital data platforms - Qlikview / Tableau / Oracle / R / Microsoft / Bizobjects / Cognos / Hadoop / Cassandra
    • Artificial Intelligence / Robotic Process Automation and process re-engineering
    • Regulation - EMIR, Dodd Frank, Basel, MiFID, Brexit
    • Legal entity / trade migrations
    • Post Trade processing - from trade capture to downstream routing (clearing, settlement, confirmation, asset servicing etc), understanding trade flows and data captured to support trade processing
    • Securities and Listed Derivatives architecture including; settlement, confirmation, payments, DTCC, CLS, GMI, Clearvision, corporate actions, finance and risk
    • MDM and data governance, data science, MIS & data presentation
