To manage a professional, knowledgeable, and efficient Workplace Risk Management service for the benefit of the Accenture UKI business, developing and delivering the health, safety and environmental strategy and management systems, with the aim of proactively and reactively reducing infrastructure risks to Accenture.
The HSE Risk Management Associate Manager is responsible for ensuring that infrastructure risks to Accenture UKI are identified, analysed and addressed in a manner that satisfies legislation, best practice and corporate reputation and to be responsible for the strategic management, development and delivery of activities relating to health & safety and environmental planning across UK and Ireland.


Health, Safety & Environment Service Management
  • Align team objectives with the Accenture Workplace Solutions (AWS) vision
  • Maintain knowledge of Accenture’s changing business and the effects on teams locally and globally.  Ensure this knowledge is applied in the successful management of risk to and impact on our people and business
  • Identify new risks and opportunities and present options to address and maximise these
  • Proactive involvement with AWS projects, new locations and initiatives impacting on services
  • Ensure that Accenture remains aware of and where necessary compliant with legislative changes
  • Oversee the strategic planning and execution of core UKI Health & Safety deliverables, including:
    • Building, Event and Activity Risk Assessments across Accenture’s UKI work environments
    • Workstation Assessments to all UKI personnel
    • Accenture’s UKI Occupational Health & Safety System
    • Accident and Incident Investigation
    • Internal and external audits of compliance with external certifications and legislation
  • Oversee the strategic planning and execution of core UKI Environmental deliverables, including:
    • Accenture’s Environmental and Energy Management Systems
    • Quarterly Performance Metric Collection
    • Environmental Improvement Plan
    • Internal and external audits of compliance with external certifications and legislation 
  • Act as a point of contact for general advice and escalation for operational teams, business units and Leadership on H&S and Environmental issues
  • Oversee regular reviews of team performance and processes to ensure they remain efficient, effective and relevant to the customer service offering
  • Ensure training needs analysis is conducted for H&S and Environment and appropriate solutions are implemented across UKI
Team Management
  • Pro-actively manage the HSE team comprising of 10 team members (including 4 direct reports) to ensure optimum performance, engagement levels and morale through regular one-to-one reviews
  • Support the planning and allocation of workload for HSE team
  • Ensure appropriate skills are developed for each team member through considered allocation of workload and coaching to ensure the team have challenging and engaging work
  • Ensure that deliverables are met and that HSE is represented to our clients at a high standard
  • Provide effective management of all assigned staff ensuring they are performance managed to a high standard, providing performance feedback in a timely manner and managing poor performance effectively
  • Ensure there is effective communication across the team (community events, forums, written communications, team meetings etc)
  • Ensure vacancies are filled in a timely manner, plan for service continuity and carry out succession planning
  • Ensure that training needs and skills gaps for the team are proactively identified and training is appropriate, attended and the business benefits realised
Documentation/ Management Reporting
  • Produce and present a report detailing health & safety performance metrics and progress against objectives and chair the quarterly meeting of the UKI Infrastructure Risk Committee (IRC)
  • Produce and present a report detailing environmental performance metrics and progress against objectives and chair the bi-annual meeting of the UKI Environmental Steering Committee (ESC)
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and presentations to communicate key areas of H&S and Environmental awareness to customers, colleagues and clients as required
  • Oversee the development and approval process for local company HSE policies and procedures
  • Oversee the provision of HSE information for Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation as required (often requiring urgent response)
  • Create and manage the HSE Annual Plan to identify and track key objectives and priorities and undertake related continuous improvement activities as appropriate
  • Produce accurate and timely service delivery reports for the Service Delivery Manager
Budget Management 
  • Establish detailed HSE budget requirements and reforecast regularly to reflect changing need
  • Monitor spend against budget, ensuring rate of spend and actual out turn are within budget forecast
  • Prepare operational and finance status and variance commentary for inclusion in monthly reporting
  • Manage purchase order and invoice approval process for HSE related procurement
  • Internal Customer liaison on areas of recharge for HSE activities to ensure the customer has a full understanding of associated costs and processes
  • Ensure compliance with Accenture’s procurement and payment policies
  • Attend budgetary meetings (planning, reporting, etc.) as required
  • Escalate key areas of risk to AWS Management as required, providing options and recommendations for mitigating action
  • Liaise with global steering groups including: Global Safety & Security; Global Asset Protection (GAP); Global Environment Team and Global Insurance on areas of concern as required
  • Establish and maintain relationships with representatives at Accenture offices and client sites across UKI to encourage consistency in health, safety and environmental activities
  • Oversee a team Communications Plan to increase employee awareness of key HSE subjects as required (ensuring adherence to AWS and UKI communication standards)
  • Oversee regular review of the H&S web-portal and SharePoint content to ensure it is current and accurate
  • Ensure ‘Your Health & Wellbeing at Accenture’ presentation is delivered by the team at all new joiner inductions
  • Liaise and communicate with internal and external suppliers to improve service offerings
  • Ensure reportable incidents are communicated to the Health & Safety Executive (UK) and H&S Authority (Ire) on behalf of Accenture within the stated timeframes and manage any subsequent Local Authority investigation
  • Establish good working relationship with Accenture UKI Legal and HR Teams to seek guidance, share information and define required actions as appropriate
  • Participate in safety and environmental forums/groups in a proactive manner both within Accenture (e.g. Community of Practice Experts (CPE) group) and external to the
