Salary: £71,000 – 93,000

Travel: Up to 100% globally

You will be joining Seabury Aviation Consulting, a boutique consulting firm within Accenture.  We focus primarily on airline strategy development, commercial improvements, and major operational turnarounds. In one way or another, we work with most of the major airlines in the world.  We love this industry and we are committed to it for the long-term. Our projects cover airline fleet and network strategy, airline start-ups, revenue management and sales boosts, cargo performance improvements, broad cost reduction, business intelligence, operational improvement, contract negotiations and due diligence. Amongst others, we work on turnaround situations, privatisations, and high-stakes M&As. We take a rigorous analytical approach to all projects to help our clients make sound business decisions in the challenging aviation industry.

Role Description

The position will work in Seabury’s London fast-moving team, supporting the wider consulting teams, within their projects, to provide core expertise in data engineering / data science, advanced data modelling and visualisation.

Key responsibilities include;

  • Becoming a ‘go to’ expert on all aspects of data, model development and analytic techniques, directly responsible for these tasks in more complex projects, and fostering the development of the required skills and approaches across the wider team in others
  • Using a wide range of approaches, technologies and tools, in-order to develop our growing library of models and components
  • Leveraging IP for future projects, continually improving our approach and ability to add value each time.
  • Constantly improve our modelling approach within our varied mix of projects, and to enthusiastically support the wider adoption of the results of these efforts around the business.
  • Keen to challenge the status quo and unafraid to experiment with new ideas
  • Proactively take the initiative within a project, continuous improving and looking to find the best outcome at every step, solid communicator – convince, encourage and enthuse the wider consulting team, and our clients.

Required Skills

The most important thing for us is that you display the right attitude. We would like you to actively contribute to our community and clients as practitioners, who can think logically, solve problems and engage others.

As well as the above, you should have expertise in one or more the following areas:  

  • Proven ability with model development, with some exposure to databases/SQL, and practiced in use of procedural languages (e.g. Python, Microsoft VBA).
  • Demonstrate a modelling mindset; to tackle a range of problem types, and an affinity with the more advanced technical and data science skills that should accompany that (optimization, machine learning, simulation etc.)
  • Strong business acumen, attention to detail, excellent writing, editing, communication skills
  • Solid experience in application of requisite modelling and analytical skills in practical settings, hands-on, ideally in project environments / within a wider project team
  • Ideally experience in the travel / aviation sector, and in disciplines such as Operations / OR, sales & distribution, RM / Pricing, customer analytics, or marketing
  • Ability to solve complex business problems technically, while working with consultants and teams from other offices to resolve client issues
  • Ability to present technical concepts and strategies in a clear manner to non-tech audiences
  • Project management skills sufficient to coordinate and leverage small, disparate teams of specialists from the wider Accenture Analytics teams, with the domain experts from the Seabury Consulting teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages is a plus)

Primary Technical Skills:

Desirable - T-SQL, Python/R/Scala/Hive/Pig, Hadoop/Spark, AWS (RDS, S3, EC2), Azure (SQL Database/Blob/VM), Cloud architecture, Machine Learning, Tableau/Power BI
