Role: Windows and VMWare Specialist
Location: This role is aligned to the Warwick office but can be based anywhere in the UK with flexible working opportunities
Travel: Travel and work on client sites when required
Salary: Up to £43,000 depending on experience

A highly mobile and skilled Windows/VMWare SME required to perform support, administration and configuration of Windows and Virtualisation systems for hardware and software related cloud infrastructure.
This role may either be based from a multi-client delivery centre or at client sites for extended period of times when required.
What responsibilities will you have?
  • Design, deploy, configure and/or maintain Windows 2008/2012/2016 Server, Active Directory, Windows Clusters and other related infrastructure products.
  • Design, deploy and configuring virtualization systems, e.g. vCenter, vSphere, ESXi hosts.
  • Business as usual or project related support including:  troubleshooting, best practice configuration, security hardening and compliance, patching and system changes.
  • Managing public cloud environments with knowledge of cloud native tools/applications in AWS or Azure.
  • Physical hardware configuration support (rack and blades) including HP, Cisco UCS and Dell.
  • Installing, configuring and creating automation workflows using management tools e.g. vRO, vRA,
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell / PowerCLi / Python
  • Create, or review technical system recovery plans including performing disaster recovery tests.
  • Managing existing or implementing new service improvements, including automation, orchestration, tooling, scripting.
  • 3rd level support:  Resolve complex high priority incidents impacting critical systems.
  • ITIL activities:  incident management, root cause analysis, problem, change (assess, implement) and risk management.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
Proven experience performing operational systems administration support of VMWare, Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, Active Directory, Windows Clusters, WSUS, Identity management (FIM), SCOM and other related infrastructure products in enterprise level production environments.
  • Ability to plan, design and implement complex changes.
  • Proven Infrastructure / Cloud expertise
  • Knowledge and ability to automate tasks using vRO, vRA workflows or via PowerShell scripts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to work within a team and in co-operation with other teams/third parties.
Required Skills
  • VMWare VCP/VCAP and/or MCSE certifications.
  • Windows 2008/2012/2016 Server and Active Directory Administration.
  • Use of Amazon Web Services or Azure public cloud.
  • VMWare vRealize  -  Orchestration  (vRO), Automation (vRA).
  • Rack and Blade Chassis hardware configuration.
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Hands on experience in implementing VMware virtualization and Windows solutions including:  security hardening and compliance, best practice configuration and tuning performance, automation.
  • Technical Design of server solutions within virtualized or public cloud environments including (where appropriate) Active Directory, backups, storage, hypervisor, virtual switches, vsan, HA cluster.
Desirable Knowledge and Skills
  • Migrating to public cloud.
  • Public cloud capabilities/service offerings.
  • VMWare NSX.
  • Software Defined DataCentre (SDDC).
  • Citrix.
  • Security/Identity management.
  • Storage – blobs, hybrid.
What academic qualifications do you need?
Good degree in relevant subject or Microsoft, VMWare and/or public cloud vendor certifications.
