Role: DevOps Specialist
Location: This role is aligned to the Warwick office but can be based anywhere in the UK with flexible working opportunities
Travel: Travel and work on client sites when required
Salary: Up to £43,000 depending on experience

A highly mobile and skilled DevOps SME required. With a background in either Linux or Windows Server administration, the successful candidate will be experienced using DevOps tools within public or private cloud environments.
“Business as usual” or Project support including code development, design, deployments, continuous integration/delivery and troubleshooting of automation workstreams.
Strong skills in managing and resolving server infrastructure and DevOps platform related incidents are mandatory.
A professional image will always be required with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely whilst demonstrating expert knowledge within the DevOps product range and also server operating systems. This role may either be based from a multi-client delivery centre or at client sites for extended period of times when required.
What responsibilities will you have?
  • Design and develop automation solutions towards a “lights out” operating model.
  • Manage and enhance existing automations to calibrate and improve as part of continued service improvements.
  • Apply automation and infrastructure as code using configuration management tools such as ansible or puppet.
  • Developing scripts using either bash/PowerShell/python/ruby.
  • Package management using DevOps approach e.g. artifactory, rpm or chocolatey.
  • Providing 2nd / 3rd level support, (incidents, changes).
  • Standard system management/administration of operating systems.
  • Risk management and mitigation.
  • Operational knowledge of builds, upgrades, deployments, security, compliance and patching processes
  • Ownership of complex changes and work packages.
What skills & experience are we looking for?
Proven experience performing in a DevOps role within an enterprise wide environment.
  • Ability to plan, develop and implement complex automation within a DevOps environment.
  • Server Operating system admin skills, including incident fault finding and root cause.
  • Public Cloud expertise (e.g. AWS, Azure) and associated native tool usage .
  • Ability to work within a team and in co-operation with other teams/third parties.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Required Skills:
  • DevOps Tools:  knowledge of deploying/configuring code using one or more of the following:   Ansible,  Puppet,  Jenkins,  Chef,  GitHub,  GitLab
  • Experience of Scripting using one or more of the following languages:   bash/PowerShell/python/ruby
  • Server provisioning via automated technologies using one or more of the following:  Terraform,  Packer, Terraform, Vagrant, Cloudformation,  ARMtemplate,  vRO
  • Server operating systems administration either Linux or Windows Server.
  • Amazon Web Services or Azure public cloud.
  • Familiarity with VMWare

What academic qualifications do you need?
Good degree in relevant subject or Operating System / DevOps Vendor certifications
