To assist and deputise for the Employment Tax Manager in ensuring Accenture’s compliance with UK/Ireland employment tax legislation.


The Specialist will work as part of the Employment Tax Team reviewing expenses and invoices for tax compliance purposes. They will provide advice & support to the UK/I business. 
The role offers great scope for expansion & diversity, with process & efficiency improvements allowing time to explore & influence other related aspects including, but not limited to, policy issues, expenses management & project financial planning.
The specialist will work closely with the Employment Tax manager on a variety of standalone projects.


PSA 50%
Annual PSA process including:
  • Tax review of employee expenses and accounts payable invoices on a monthly basis.
  • Identifying “24 month” taxable employees 
Whilst the role is diverse the primary responsibility is the collation of the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement (“PSA”) computation. This involves, with the support of a dedicated tax team in Dublin, a monthly review of:
  • 20.000 + invoices
  • 80,000 + lines of employee expenses
to ensure compliance with HMRC rules.
As well as determining the correct treatment of travel & other expenses it is expected that the specialist will be able to identify key issues, be they tax or process related, and suggest, design & implement appropriate solutions, alongside the Employment Tax manager & the Dublin tax team.
A major part of the invoice review requires the analysis of corporate events provided through a preferred supplier. This requires liaison with internal event organisers, including the planning of tax efficient events.
PSA Software
We are in the process of moving from an Excel based process to a bespoke software solution & the successful candidate will play a key role in the transition work, including help fine tuning & testing the new system.
24 month.
A major sub-set of the PSA process is the management of the “24 month” issue. This involves analysing employee location data to establish taxable individuals, maintaining a database of taxable/potentially taxable employees and liaison with client project teams to discuss individual cases & the impact on costs.
P11D 5%
The specialist will be responsible for maintaining P11D database, liaising with benefit providers and end of year reporting
Relocation 5%
The specialist will also be responsible for relocation payments, both domestic & internationally into the UK, ensuring the correct tax treatment of each payment & ownership of the payment database/process.
Advise on tax efficient structuring or relocation packages.
Termination Payments 5%
Alongside the Employment Tax manager the specialist will be responsible for the (tax) sign off of termination payments, which often involves discussion with HR/legal on tax treatments.
Ventures & Acquisitions 15%
To assist the Employment Tax manager with the efficient and effective transition of new businesses into Accenture.
Advisory/Project based work 15%
To assist the manager with ad hoc project advisory work
Training 5%
Requirement to write & delivery occasional training sessions on employment tax issues.

Skills Requirements
  • Good knowledge of UK employment tax legislation (ITEPA 2003).
  • Experience in employment tax compliance and reporting
  • Ability to interpret, analyse & apply existing and new tax legislation and apply it in a practical & pragmatic way.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, in particular Excel, and, ideally Access.
  • Self-motivated
  • Inquisitive nature.
  • Ability to identify problems and produce fully formed solutions.
  • Excellent numeracy skills.
  • Good written & oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Irish employment tax rules
  • Presentation skills
  • Experience of share scheme reporting
  • Experience of cross border tax issues
