Kurt Salmon, part of Accenture Strategy is a dedicated retail focused practice within Accenture Strategy. Our clients are industry leaders who benefit from our deep industry and functional expertise in operational strategy consulting, including logistics and supply chain, store operations, merchandising and product development, corporate strategy and due diligence, and omni-channel retail strategy.

We are in a critical phase of business growth, and seek a Consultant with strong retail experience (e.g. in Store Operations, Merchandising and Planning, supply chain, digital, analytics or strategy), OR strong FMCG experience where there is a strong interface with retail and a strong understanding of retail (e.g. trading/ finance). As a Consultant, you will apply your strong working knowledge and retail industry expertise every day to help deliver world-class solutions that enable our clients to become high-performance businesses.


Key responsibilities may include:

  • Deliver client engagements as part of dynamic project teams, typical work includes designing business strategies, operating models, market propositions and strategic cost and operations improvement strategies
  • Provide subject matter expertise within one or more of our retail strategy offerings (outlined above)
  • Conduct data collection and research and conduct analysis to identify deep insights and key retail and business implications
  • Develop and prioritise options for value creation, which may include quantified analytical frameworks and Excel models
  • Support proposals and develop bid materials
  • Engage with the wider strategy community in UKI to foster collaboration and to support growth and development of the business

Skills, Experience & Qualifications


The ideal candidate will have an absolute passion for retail. They will demonstrate high personal work standards, a high degree of creativity, an ability to develop intellectual capital and strong professional ethics. Candidates must be team players and have the spirit, ability and desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment necessitating team members to multi-task and work "hands-on".


Candidates must have the following skills, experience and qualifications:

  • A strong academic background with a minimum 2:1 or equivalent from a top university
  • Strong retail experience in one or more the following areas with a leading brand or retailer: Store Operations, Merchandising and Planning, Supply Chain, Digital, Analytics or Strategy, OR strong FMCG experience where there is a strong interface with retail and a strong understanding of retail (e.g. trading/ finance).
  • Strong understanding of the issues facing retailers and opportunities in these areas
  • Strong commercial vision and business management mindset
  • Ability to analyse business challenges and provide innovative and evidence based solutions
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis skills
  • Highly confident in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communications skills (written, oral, listening)
  • Strong planning and time management skills with a focus on meeting commitments and quality expectations
  • Flexibility to respond nimbly to shifting priorities

In addition, the following criteria are desirable:

  • Project management experience, including an ability to organise and direct high-quality work
  • Fluency in a second language

Although our base location is Central London, Consultants may periodically work on client engagements across the UK and internationally; therefore, geographic mobility is essential and candidates must be willing to work away from home
