Whether it’s a high scale ecommerce application, a brand-new personalisation framework or a market leading bespoke application. You will provide our clients with the technology expertise and leadership to make their business ambitions a digital reality.

Typical Responsibilities

Our clients operate at scale across international markets – you’ll be working with famous brands and household names – no more worrying about how to explain what you do to your family again!  Here’s a snapshot of a Digital Technical Architect’s typical responsibilities:
 
  • Lead the design of highly scalable, interoperable and maintainable technical architectures across disparate technology and application platforms
  • Own the digital technology architecture solution roadmap and blueprints, defining all key views including the conceptual, logical, technical and physical architectures as well as leading sign-off on the overall solution
  • Lead technical architecture assessments at client sites with key client stakeholders, which includes as-is/to-be design sessions and documentation to enable solution development
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients and colleagues, seen as a senior expert in digital technologies, constantly learning to stay ahead
  • Create and evolve architectures from MVP to full scale production grade solutions
  • Build and lead technology teams throughout the full solution lifecycle
  • Design and develop client strategies around digital technology solutions
  • Drive the digital technical architecture business case and act as an interface with the delivery organisation to ensure effective transition, helping to shape the services, delivery locations and related costs
  • Contribute to business development and internal knowledge sharing initiatives helping to develop the Digital Technology Architecture practice
  • Develop work estimates for digital technical architecture implementations during the sales cycle
  • Lead project reviews, providing actionable critiques of current projects ensuring improving project success and overall consistency
  • Capture learnings and insights from project and review activity producing guidance and educational material for dissemination to wider architecture community
  • Lead proposal efforts in new sales activities, working with internal solutioning team to ensure high quality solution proposals are produced
  • Partner with solution providers to deliver the best solution meeting the needs of our clients
  • Working both alongside and within teams using a variety of delivery methodologies, including Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and Waterfall
Key Skills & Experience
 
The ideal candidate for this key role in shaping the digital vision for our clients will have experience in a professional services environment, solution / technology architecture or technical services role, working in digital technologies.  You will demonstrate a strong breath of skill across all aspects of technology relevant to digital, such as:
 
  • Extensive hands-on technology experience working on digital transformation projects in a consulting/client facing architectural or development role across all layers of the technology stack – including front-end, database, web services, web protocols, networking, security, interfaces, performance tuning and application development
  • Demonstrable evidence of design and delivery of scalable, robust and manageable technical architectures
  • Solid understanding of key architecture concerns such as availability, scalability, operability, maintainability and how to ensure that they are delivered as specified
  • Deep experience of modern development and runtime environments suitable for both on and off premises deployments
  • Deep knowledge of modern design patterns and skilled in their applications
  • Ability to communicate design concepts to deeply technical development teams as well as non-technical staff up to CxO level
  • Full solution lifecycle experience from inception to operation, able to address the specific architectural needs of each phase
  • Technical skills and knowledge of technologies and platforms
  • Deep experience in one or more digital technologies or platforms such as:
    • Content management: Adobe Experience Manager, Sitecore, OpenText, Drupal, Wordpress
    • Ecommerce: Websphere Commerce, ATG, Hybris
    • Digital marketing: social media, personalisation, targeting, SEO, PPC, DMP
    • Front-end technologies: HTML5, CSS, JS and related frameworks
    • Infrastructure: Cloud IaaS, PaaS, security, server technologies, CDN
    • Devices: iOS (iPhone / iPad), Android
  • Experience of process and scenario mapping, the use of architecture methods and have knowledge based around usability, accessibility and maintainability of online and mobile solutions
  • Experience with (or awareness of) user experience design, information architecture and agile web development processes
  • Experience with (or knowledge of) emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Augmented Reality, IoT & Sensors/Devices
  • Minimum 2:1 degree or proven track record
