Location: London

Salary: £47,000-60,000

Closing Date: 07:01:18

Managing environmental, social and governance challenges in a digital world creates new C-level priorities. Leaders must run resource-efficient supply chains and connect with customers more effectively than ever before. Navigating these and other complex sustainability issues can be a daunting challenge – and Accenture Strategy helps by shaping our clients’ future, combining deep business insight with the understanding of how technology will impact industries and business models.

Through Sustainability Strategy, a dedicated business within Accenture Strategy, we help clients identify new areas for growth, new ways to increase efficiency and reduce costs and new means to build trust and reputation. By focusing on sustainability as a means for value creation, we help business leaders build trust and transparency, and create competitive advantage.

We are in a critical phase of business growth, and seek a Consultant to strengthen our Sustainability Strategy team. Consultants work directly with the world’s leading businesses in business-critical engagements and are responsible for driving the thinking and rigorous analysis that contributes to successful strategy consulting projects. Consultants take responsibility for managing key project workstreams and supervising junior colleagues. Consultants contribute to thought leadership, supporting the development of Accenture’s sustainability points of view and intellectual and commercial assets.

The Consultant role will help Sustainability Strategy grow and drive client impact, focused in our four offerings:

·       Sustainable value

·       Circular economy and resource effectiveness

·       Trust, transparency and traceability

·       Digital trust and responsibility

Key responsibilities

  •          Deliver client engagements as part of dynamic, cross-functional expert teams, often combining Sustainability Strategy with other parts of Accenture
  •         Provide subject matter expertise within one or more Sustainability Strategy offerings (outlined above)
  •          Conduct data collection and research and conduct analysis to identify deep insights and key business and sustainability implications
  •          Develop and prioritise options for sustainable value creation, which may include quantified analytical frameworks and Excel models
  •         Manage junior team members, including analysts
  •         Work virtually with Sustainability Strategy teams in other regions as well as offshore support teams
  •         Support proposals and develop bid materials
  •         Support development of intellectual and commercial assets for Accenture and Sustainability Strategy offerings, including Points of View and scalable project tools and solution frameworks
  •         Help develop our growing practice, including skills, competencies and knowledge of junior team members
  •         Build relationships with existing clients and internal Accenture teams

Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will demonstrate high personal work standards, a high degree of creativity, an ability to develop intellectual capital and strong professional ethics. Previous experience in consulting and a strong track record in a professional sustainability context are needed. Candidates must be team players and have the spirit, ability and desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment that does not afford the administrative support of a larger service line, necessitating team members to multi-task and work "hands-on".

Candidates must have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong track record of work in strategy-based roles and projects
  • Strong understanding of business issues and opportunities in a sustainability context
  • Some client-facing consulting or equivalent experience
  • Ability to rapidly analyse business challenges and to provide innovative and evidence based solutions
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis skills
  • Excellent communications skills (written, oral, listening)
  • Strong planning and time management skills with a focus on meeting commitments and quality expectations
  • Project management experience, including an ability to organise and direct high-quality work
  • Good understanding of corporate financial analysis (P&L, balance sheets, etc.)
  • Energy, drive and commitment to support the team in growing Sustainability Strategy, meet competing deadlines, and act decisively on feedback to improve client deliverables and personal performance
  • Flexibility to respond nimbly to shifting priorities

In addition, the following criteria and qualifications are desirable:

  • A degree in high standing from a world-class university
  • Further studies and/or relevant professional qualifications related to sustainability are desirable
  • Previous experience in a top tier strategy consulting firm, boutique strategy/sustainability firm, or a consulting role in a ‘Big 4’ accounting firm is desirable
  • Some prior experience in quantitative modelling (e.g. sustainability or financial models)
  • Although our base location is Central London, some Consultants may periodically work on client engagements across the UK and internationally; therefore, geographic mobility is preferred and candidates should be willing to work away from home

What’s in it for you

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and growing sustainability strategy and consulting team, and Sustainability Strategy in the UK is at the heart of a practice with global reach.
