Technology Advisory is part of Accenture’s Technology Consulting Practice within Financial Services. We architect, plan, design, build and implement solutions for clients in the UK, Europe and around the globe. The Intelligent Application service line assists clients in assessing their application estate, defining the target state application landscape (architecture), and producing the business case and roadmap to optimise and modernise the applications, the service line drives through the execution of these programmes. The consultant will be responsible for driving forward the resulting Application Modernisation initiatives and projects.  The consultant will be responsible for the detailed discovery using tooling and developing execution plans, estimation of effort and management of these plans through to completion in the field of Legacy Application Renewal, covering the full range of renewal and transformation technologies relating to legacy applications, these include mainframe, midrange and client/server technologies and discovery tooling.
Within this specialty, consultants possess an open, adaptable and technology agnostic mindset. Drawing on a good understanding of technology with broad experience of application development, application architecture, application testing, and application production operations, they will have broad awareness of Programming Languages, Databases, User Interface Technologies, On-line Transactions, Batch Processing, Client/Server Architectures, Networks, Security, User Administration, Mainframe Platforms, and Midrange Platforms. 
You will support business-aligned colleagues in pre-sales and post-sales activity and will assist them in shaping the application renewal approach, developing options and make recommendations.  You will be responsible for leading teams delivering the recommended approach.
  • You will possess a good quantitative or numerical degree from a leading university or have equivalent experience
  • Previous relevant experience working in a design and/or architecture function within a large development programme
Technical Skill Requirements 
  • Experience in application and architecture development in a variety of technical platforms such as Mainframe, J2EE and Microsoft .NET environment technologies with deep experience in at least one of these platforms.
  • Experience in using Middleware/Messaging/Web Services architectures to integrate Legacy applications
  • Experience in application migration, particularly cross-platform migration
  • Experience in replatforming applications onto up-to-date infrastructure would be advantageous
  • Hands-on delivery or involvement in large, major IT change programmes

All candidates must be willing to be London, Manchester or Edinburgh based, but offer full mobility (i.e. prepared to work away from home Monday to Friday as required).
