On our Consulting Industrial Placement, you can expect to be immersed in live consulting project work from day one. Intense and rewarding, the programme allows you to make your first mark on a vast global business, while forming connections with a mix of talented people at every level.
From the start, you’ll have a ‘buddy’ who will provide expert advice whenever you need it. Then you’ll learn about the project you’ve been assigned to, which could be in any part of our consulting workforce. You’ll take on real responsibility – testing software, undertaking research, compiling reports and analysing complex information.
The aim is to give you an insight into what life is like at the sharp end of business and technology evolution. By the end of the year, you should come away with some valuable skills – and hopefully an offer to join us when you graduate.
You’ll currently be studying a technical or business-related degree that offers the option of an industrial placement, and be expecting to receive a minimum 2:1 in your first undergraduate degree, or equivalent international undergraduate. You’ll also have 340 UCAS points across your top three A-Levels (excluding General Studies). A strong communicator with great organisational skills and a real passion for IT, you’ll want to know more about how technology can make a real difference to business.

This placement is based in London. Please note that you will need to find and fund your own accommodation. However, if we send you on a project further afield, we will cover the additional accommodation costs on your behalf.
Lasting twelve months, the programme combines formal training with practical, hands-on experience in live development environments. The programme starts with a week-long induction that will give you a solid grounding in business and technology consultancy, as well as valuable commercial skills. After week one, you’ll start on a project. It could be based anywhere within our consulting teams. And you won’t just be shadowing others: you’ll be a fully-fledged team member right from the start, making a tangible impact.

“Right now I’m helping to roll out Windows 7 for one of our clients. I travel to different sites making sure everything goes smoothly, sorting out data issues and even running some of the deployments. It’s really fascinating, and means I’m getting loads of hands-on technology experience. I’ve also gained some incredible skills, which will not only make a big difference when I return to university, but in my career as well.
At the moment I’m working on RAM upgrades. I audit resources, ensure that users are engaged and sort out any issues remotely. Sometimes I visit the sites in person, especially the larger ones, to ensure that my clients are happy and everything is going as it should be. My day varies quite a lot, but I like it that way because it means I never get bored.
I went to the International Women’s Day event and got to speak to the Director of Human Capital and Diversity. She helped me explore funding for my final year of university, so it was amazing to speak to her. I’ve also done some charity work, including for a group of boys aged 8-16 who came to Accenture for an event we were running. We showed them how to network, gave them tips on presenting and told them about the skills they’ll need if they want to work in the professional world. The day really made an impact on me; it was so nice to give back and feel that I can have a positive impact on people, like others have had on me. I was so proud of the boys too, it was a really lovely day.”
APPLICATION PROFILE AND PSYCHOMETRIC QUESTIONNAIRE
The first part of the process is to fill out an application profile which includes a psychometric questionnaire. Along with attaching your most up to date CV, we will ask you to provide some details of your background, experience, skills and education. Although this stage can be completed in under 10 minutes, you can exit and revisit the page as many times as you like before submitting. If your profile meets our role requirements and is identified as a good fit for the company and our culture, we will progress you through to the next stage.
You will then be asked to complete a series of short online assessments. This stage gives you the opportunity to prove your cognitive and functional ability, tech acuity and business acumen. From start to finish the assessments should take no longer than 1 hour to complete. Since they are untimed, you are welcome to start and stop the assessments as you wish and complete them at your leisure. If you excel across all areas, we will then progress you to the third and final stage.
At this stage you are required to attend a 3-hour Assessment Centre in our London office. The Assessment Centres will take you through a series of exercises that will give you insight into life at Accenture while allowing you to showcase your potential for the role. Some exercises such as the Virtual Reality segment and 1:1 interview will require you to participate on your own and others such as the business challenge will require you to work together with other candidates. You will be informed of the outcome within 10-15 business days.
