Stu blogs – An introduction
By: Stuart Nicol

10 months, 4 projects, 346 miles from home. It all sounds a bit daunting, but that really hasn’t been the case.

I am a Scot born and raised who made the move South to London as a result of my graduate offer from Accenture, and I believe I made the right choice.

I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in International Business in 2014. My previous work experience (an internship) was in sales and marketing with a global drinks manufacturer. When it came round to applying to jobs in my final year at university Accenture was very much on my radar. Consultancy is an area that offers so much variety and opportunity, and it’s also something Accenture is particularly good at! I received my offer midway through fourth year which gave me an assured path to employment provided I could navigate through those tricky final exams!

I am now part of the Analyst Consulting Group and am aligned to technology. As mentioned above, I am on my fourth project with Accenture where I work with a large pharmaceuticals company. Four projects in ten months is quite a lot but this is due to my interest in trying out different types of work and building a broad skill set, a decision which Accenture has supported wholeheartedly and which is made easier by the vast number of opportunities on offer. I also have a keen interest in golf and recently was fortunate enough to play for the business in the Corporate Games in June where we finished third. I can assure you we will be doing our best to better this next year and bring home the trophy!

With my blog posts I hope to be able to give an insight into how a new analyst fits into a company of 355,000 people (approx.), with a specific focus on finding your area and communities as well as generally talking a bit about my experiences over the 10 months since I joined.
