So this week I've been on a much needed holiday to Nantes. It had only been a couple of months since I was last away but starting a new project is pretty tiring and I still had some holiday left.
I read an article in the newspaper about the Nantes arts trail, booked it and three weeks later was there. I'm still getting used to this earning money/'being able to take holiday when I like' malarkey. We spent a lovely few days exploring a new city, eating great French food, drinking kirs and I got to practice my French again. I thought that I'd forgotten everything since my first project finished at the end of 2013 but am pleased to say that I haven't! I really want to pick up learning French again; it is very useful in the A&D (Aerospace and Defence) industry and I loved working there. Saying that, this enthusiasm is coming after a week away- ask me where it is after 2 weeks of work.
I traveled up on Sunday evening as I'd been at a friend's for the weekend in the middle of the country. Arriving to beautiful sunshine I borrowed a bike from the hotel and went for a cycle which was great! I'm more treating myself to the most amazing chocolate brownie/chocolate orange ice cream combo.
Tomorrow I get to meet my new SM (Senior Manager) for the first time; the PMO (Project Management Office) has been temporarily run by another SM but now the other analyst and I (well, really the project PMO!) will have a dedicated manager. I'm really looking forward to meeting her and working with someone new.
Right, back to my dessert (I was going to post a photo, but it really didn't do it justice...).
