Valtteri Vuorisalo is an industry innovation senior principal for Accenture's Global Defence Services. In this role, he leads operations at Accenture's global defence industry business unit: His main task is to formulate and implement Accenture's defence industry strategy and align Accenture's internal investments accordingly.
Dr. Vuorisalo's thesis examines how to develop future military capability in a multinational context. This insight into coalition processes and methods included a focus on interoperability and network-centric multinational missions. He has also advised on strengthening the planning capacity of smaller nations from a crisis management perspective and served as board member of a group tasked by the Parliament of Finland to investigate key national IT trends and solutions. Areas of experience include military enterprise architectures and defence IT strategies, with a focus on defence capability and security transformation.
In addition to qualification as Doctor of Social Sciences in International Relations at the Tampere School of Management, Dr. Vuorisalo has held multiple commissions with the Finnish Defence Forces and has served, for example, as a Liaison and Observation Officer in Operation Althea, the EU's first major crisis management operation in Bosnia. He has spoken on military and civilian issues relating to crisis management worldwide, and published internationally in the field of International Relations. His research focus revolves around the theme of flow security, and the security impact of data and information flows especially.
Valtteri lives in the Tampere area with his wife and two daughters, and enjoys jogging and watching ice hockey.
