CAREERS

Technology Architecture Graduate Programme

INTRODUCTION

On our Technology Architecture Graduate Programme, you’ll develop your skills to shape and direct the technical solutions and blueprints that solve our clients’ biggest business challenges. You’ll evaluate the project requirements, work alongside a project team to set the technical strategy, process and technology architecture, and support the delivery of change. Click here to read more about Accenture’s Technology Architecture services.

As an Analyst, you’ll work on projects that develop our most technically complex and cutting-edge solutions, as well as collaborating with our delivery teams to ensure solutions are feasible and functional. This could mean defining technical requirements, developing technical architecture components, taking part in design and code reviews, or reviewing systems performance or test plans. Our Technology Architects have been at the forefront of new approaches to modern trends such as cloud, big data, internet of things and digital technologies.

Curious about technology and how things work, you’ll need a keen interest in pursuing a career in technology architecture plus initial experience and understanding of base technology. You should know at least one programming language and have technical software development experience with at least one platform. An awareness of different dimensions of software architecture and a good understanding of current technology trends are also important. You’ll be a team worker with strong communication skills and a creative and problem-solving mind-set. You’ll also need a minimum 2:1 degree (any discipline – achieved or predicted).

Applications are now open and close on 31st March 2018. Positions are filled on a first come first serve basis, so we encourage you to apply early to avoid disappointment.

Because you could be placed at any one of our offices in Edinburgh, London, Manchester or Newcastle and may be delivering projects on client sites anywhere in the UK (and sometimes abroad), so you’ll need to be flexible.

MY ACCENTURE CAREER

KHALID
Application Technical Architect
M.Eng.
York University

I specialise in system implementations for Oracle Retail products. This means that I generally work with the client to isolate where Oracle Retail’s off-the-shelf products may fail to meet their requirements. I then compose custom developments to resolve any gaps.

I work with an offshore team in India, so my day starts very early! I’ll usually be in meetings with the client and the team until after lunch, when India typically goes off-line. Then I can take advantage of the rest of the day to either complete the actions I promised in the morning’s meeting, or write any supporting documentation. I’m big on developing the people I work with, so when I’m not otherwise busy, being a specialist puts me in a great position to help develop my team’s skills.

Working for Accenture is definitely a lifestyle choice. It’s a lot of work, but the nature of the projects means that you can choose to try different things or to specialise in one field. My other piece of advice would be to make full use of the training on hand. There are all sorts of training courses available, including online and classroom-based, so make the most of them.

APPLICATION AND ONLINE TEST

You will need to fill out an application form. You’ll be asked a series of free text questions and will also need to upload your CV. In the test you'll be presented with a variety of realistic situations that you may face in your role at Accenture, and you’ll need to choose from a range of responses to demonstrate what you feel would be the most effective solution. We’re interested in measuring a set of behaviours here, which are critical in order to succeed with us. You will be automatically directed to complete this when you click on the apply link. You will also be also be asked to complete a logic test.

DIGITAL INTERVIEW

2

DIGITAL INTERVIEW

You will be invited to complete a short digital interview, which you can do at a time and location convenient to you. You’ll need a webcam, either integrated or plug-in on your laptop or PC. This stage of the interview process will cover your understanding of our business and services, and assess your core skills and competencies which are essential to success in the role. It will involve video questions, aptitude questions, a debug challenge and a coding challenge. We are not expecting candidates to be able to complete all tasks correctly, but we include a variety of questions to identify your skills and potential, so give it your best shot.

Should you be invited to compete the digital interview you will be sent full details on what to expect and how to prepare prior to your interview.

3

ASSESSMENT CENTRE

3

ASSESSMENT CENTRE

If you are successful at interview stage, you will then be invited to attend a half-day session in our London office. There will be some assessed sessions, a group exercise and a one-to-one interview with a recruiter. There will also be some more informal unassessed sessions to give you a chance to get to know Accenture including a tour of our Innovation Hub. A manager will present a session about their own career at Accenture. This is a good opportunity to find out more about life at Accenture and ask any questions you might have regarding training, projects and career opportunities. There will also be the opportunity to ask recruiters questions during the session. You will be informed of the outcome of the assessment centre within 10 working days.
