Horizons School Leaver Programme

INTRODUCTION

Horizons will show you what it takes to be a high-performing professional in consulting and build your talents, abilities and technical skills. But this is more than just a placement; if you impress us during the eight months, you’ll then have the chance to join us for a paid Summer Vacation Scheme and have soft skills training and mentoring alongside your degree. If you continue to do well, you could be offered a graduate position before you’ve even finished your degree. In short, this could be the first step towards a lasting career in consulting.

The scheme starts in September, with a comprehensive induction. This will introduce you to Accenture and explain in more detail what we do, how we help clients and why technology is at the centre of our business. It will also give you practical skills that will prepare you for your project.

After this, it’s straight to the front-line, where you’ll get experience working with clients in up to three industry sectors. There’s a lot to take in but we’ll make sure you have the tools to make the most of your time with us. Such as a ‘buddy’ who can give you help when and where you need it. And two formal evaluations so that you know how well you’re doing.

You are an upper sixth-former or year 13 with a genuine interest in business and technology. You have a mature and confident approach and you’re prepared to be based in London for the duration of your placement or a project based further afield. If we assign you to a project outside London, we’ll arrange your accommodation for you – usually in a flat or hotel with other people on your project. However, you’ll still need to organise your own accommodation base in London (which we’ll give you a £500 relocation allowance to help you with).

Applications are now open and close on 25th January 2019. Positions are filled on a first come first serve basis, so we encourage you to apply early to avoid disappointment.

"After the intense period of my A-levels, it was nice to take a break from studying and do something completely new. I was keen to get some proper real work experience in a respected organisation, and the Horizons programme offered me that. It also gave me the chance to earn decent money and get some sponsorship for university. And if that wasn’t good enough, I would also have a few months left over to enjoy the rest of my gap year. So to be honest, applying was a bit of a no-brainer.

Securing a place on the Horizons programme proved to be an invaluable learning experience. For my first project I was working in a consultancy role, creating and presenting documentation for a series of software tests. We were testing a new procurement capability for a large financial services client. My second project was much more technology-focused. I was helping to progress an infrastructure delivery project for another financial services client — a task that saw me regularly collaborate with our technical teams in Bengaluru.

There were so many things I took away from the experience. For one thing, I was amazed by just how international Accenture is. You really feel like you’re working in a global team, and projects will almost invariably see you collaborating with colleagues from overseas. I was also surprised by the work ethic here. Everyone is totally committed to doing a great job for the client, and that enthusiasm is infectious."

APPLICATION PROFILE AND PSYCHOMETRIC QUESTIONNAIRE

The first part of the process is to fill out an application profile which includes a psychometric questionnaire. Along with attaching your most up to date CV, we will ask you to provide some details of your background, experience, skills and education. Although this stage can be completed in under 10 minutes, you can exit and revisit the page as many times as you like before submitting. If your profile meets our role requirements and is identified as a good fit for the company and our culture, we will progress you through to the next stage.

You will then be asked to complete a series of short online assessments. This stage gives you the opportunity to prove your cognitive and functional ability, tech acuity and business acumen. From start to finish the assessments should take no longer than 1 hour to complete. Since they are untimed, you are welcome to start and stop the assessments as you wish and complete them at your leisure. If you excel across all areas, we will then progress you to the third and final stage.

ASSESSMENT CENTRE

At this stage you are required to attend a 3-hour Assessment Centre in our London office. The Assessment Centres will take you through a series of exercises that will give you insight into life at Accenture while allowing you to showcase your potential for the role. Some exercises such as the Virtual Reality segment and 1:1 interview will require you to participate on your own and others such as the business challenge will require you to work together with other candidates. You will be informed of the outcome within 10-15 business days.
