Companies that embrace best practices for employing and supporting more persons with disabilities in their workforce have outperformed their peers, according to our new research, in partnership with Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities.
The 45 companies that we identified as standing out for their leadership in areas specific to disability employment and inclusion had, on average over the four-year period, 28 percent higher revenue, double the net income and 30 percent higher economic profit margins than their peers. Our analysis also revealed that U.S. GDP could get a boost of up to US$25 billion if more persons with disabilities joined the labor force.DOWNLOAD REPORT

Lisa Bertolini leads an Accenture team at the forefront of creating accessibility in the digital age—making websites friendly for people with disabilities. The team helps improve Accenture’s internal websites, so employees with disabilities can complete a time report or new employees can find career information.
“You have to be adaptable to change if you work with Accenture,” she says. “And that’s probably one of its greatest assets because as the world evolves, and Accenture grows with it, so does its attitude toward people with disabilities.”
