What I do

The work I do as Information Security Senior Manager enables our clients to do business safely in the hostile environment that cyberspace really is. Also, as part of the management team, I do my finest to support my colleagues, bringing the best versions of themselves to work.

 

Although all the projects that I have worked on are exciting in their own way, the one I enjoyed working on the most is VELUX as I had a chance to touch on so many aspects of security and by doing so, it really felt like I made a difference for the client’s maturity within security.

A day in my life

In many cases, security is part of a bigger deal, and as such we get to collaborate with all teams at Accenture to get the job done. So I spend a good portion of my work networking outside security.

 

What I like the most about working at Accenture is without a doubt the people. We have so many bright minded, friendly and passionate colleagues, and I just love that special energy in the office. It makes me trust that we can achieve literally anything as a team. We have a very unique culture in a very positive way, and I would not trade it for the world.

 

When I need to unplug, three things come to mind: Astro photography, online gaming (yes, I am one of the “boomers” who enjoy First Person Shooter games) and finally, I am a whisky connoisseur.

My advice

Be mindful that starting in security, you open Pandora’s box. Once you see the nasty things really going on, you cannot unsee it. So be prepared for that. And be passionate about it, or do not start at all. It is not a branch of work you can switch of when you go home, so you might as well enjoy it.

 

That said, we need more security people, and if someone has an interest, I would encourage them to apply.
