An accomplished innovator and data scientist, Dr. Athina Kanioura was a founding member of Accenture's analytics business where she ran sales & customer analytics globally and drove the company's offering development around customer relationship management and personalization. As Accenture's Global Data Science Lead for the past two years, she grew Accenture's data science team to more than 3,000 strong. Most recently, she helped clients from the consumer goods, banking and telecommunications industry, where she is known for her deep relevance and impact.
During her 14 years at Accenture, she’s held a variety of roles and built up a portfolio of specialties. Athina originally joined Accenture Marketing Services to stand up our Marketing Analytics CoEs in 2004. After she tackled that challenge, Athina moved on to be the IGEM-Marketing Analytics lead for Accenture and then the lead of Accenture Interactive in Greece. When the time came to create an organization within Accenture Digital dedicated to data and analytics, she jumped at the opportunity, eventually becoming the Chief Data Scientist for what was then Accenture Analytics. In 2017, Accenture Analytics became Accenture Applied Intelligence, and the rest is history.
Athina specializes in data science, applied statistics and machine learning and has 12+ years of practical experience in advanced statistical and econometric analysis, with both structured and unstructured data. Throughout her career, she’s also focused on a wide range of areas including: personalization, customer analytics, pricing, omnichannel optimization, marketing and communication effectiveness and content optimization.
Athina holds a B.Sc. in Maritime Economics from the University of Piraeus (Greece), a M.A in Economics and Finance from the University of Sheffield (UK), and a PhD in Macroeconomics and Econometrics from the University of Sheffield (UK). She is based out of London where she lives with her husband and two sons.
