Senior GCP Data Engineer
An experienced and versatile Senior GCP Data Engineer with deep expertise in DevOps, CI/CD, Containerization, and advanced data engineering on Google Cloud Platform. The ideal candidate combines strong technical acumen with business engagement skills — capable of translating business requirements into scalable, production-grade technical solutions. This role also involves mentoring junior engineers and driving best practices across cloud data engineering initiatives.
- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines and ingestion frameworks using GCP services such as Dataflow, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Run, and No-SQL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement end-to-end CI/CD pipelines for data workloads using templates, GitLab CI, ensuring automation and compliance with DevOps standards.
- Develop and manage containerized applications for scalable and resilient data services.
- Implement data quality, monitoring, and observability frameworks across pipelines.
- Translate complex business requirements into technical architecture, ensuring alignment with enterprise data strategy and governance.
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies, story refinement, estimation, and sprint planning as part of a cross-functional team.
- Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and cost optimization best practices in all GCP solutions.
Expertise:
- GCP – strong hands-on experience with core services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Composer, Cloud Functions, GCS).
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Java (nice to have).
- Experience in GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Deployment Manager), and automated testing in data pipelines.
- Deep understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and microservice orchestration.
- BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Firestore, and NoSQL design patterns.
- Experienced in Scrum; familiar with story writing, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews.
Experience:
- Experience: 7+ years in data engineering (3+ on GCP); GCP certification preferred.
- Proven experience in data pipeline design and API development.
- Working experience in Terraform (IAC).
Soft Skills:
- Fluency in English, good to know French.
- Strong technical acumen and ability to translate business requirements into technical design.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and guide best practices.
- Effective communication and collaboration within Agile teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Data Engineer or Associate Cloud Engineer).
- Experience with DevOps and CI/CD automation.
- Experience with enterprise data strategy, governance, and cost optimization.
