When I graduated from university, I wanted to explore and understand how the business world worked, and Accenture was a great place to learn. Then in 2015, I experienced a shift in my perception and beliefs. I wanted to contribute to the economy in another way in my day-to-day activities.
Terroirist aims to become a fair intermediary between food shops and restaurants in Brussels and small, local producers of high-quality fruit and vegetables. In just three years, Terroirist has become a cooperative of food businesses seeking to pool their strengths and create their own, short-circuit supply chain. Within five years, I hope that Terroirist will become financially stable and won’t need me anymore!
Definitely! When I was setting up Terroirist from scratch, I remembered the challenges I sometimes experienced at clients and was attentive to them. For example, I worked in the CRM team on large ERP systems where data maintenance was crucial. Although, I don’t have a large ERP system, I know that maintaining correct client data is still vitally important for Terroirist.
Without a doubt, the people. Accenture people are very committed, both professionally and personally. This is something really special. For example, I remember meeting someone on the 6th floor for lunch and discovering that not only was he dedicated to his project, but also to recruiting the best talent via the University Action Teams and being a yoga teacher in his free time. Unbelievable! I strongly believe that people are Accenture’s greatest treasure.
Being independent! The freedom in everyday life – deciding what’s most important to do, deciding when to do it etc., gives me a great sense of liberty. But what I’m most passionate about is learning every day from the small producers I meet, from the restaurateurs I work with and trying to contribute my small stone to building a better, more sustainable future together for our children.
We are still creating the tool but, in the future, people will be able to check an online list of restaurants and shops working with Terroirist. Meanwhile, if Alumni are looking for a sustainable restaurant serving local products in Brussels, they can reach out to me!
I guess that before getting hands on – we first need to get informed. Stay alert, learn about the current situation in the world, form your own opinion and be critical about what is happening around you. And READ, READ, READ – I guess that would be my first tip for everyone reading this article!
