Accenture helps US Government Agency define an analytics strategy to drive higher performance using Oracle Exalytics.

Overview

A US Government Agency engaged Accenture Federal Services to develop a business intelligence and analytics strategy leveraging the Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation Suite using Oracle Exalytics for fast in-memory analytics.

This agency collects, accounts for and annually disburses more than $10 billion in revenues from leases, royalties and other assessments on federal and Native American lands. It is one of the federal government’s largest sources of non-tax revenues.

The agency called on Accenture for a business intelligence and analytics strategy to enhance operations and improve recovery of funds.

Opportunity

Accenture was selected to develop a business intelligence and analytics strategy for the agency and deploy the solution due to our strong knowledge of the agency, depth and breadth of skills throughout the Oracle product suite and the ability to effectively apply analytics for improved business results.

The enabling technologies include Oracle Exalytics, Oracle Exalogic, Oracle Exadata and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition reporting software.

Solution

Accenture helped the agency set a strategic vision for its analytic activities and define the path forward.

The project team then consolidated multiple data sources to enable the agency to access data faster and more easily for exploration and anomaly detection.

The Accenture Analytics Innovation Centers for Oracle were able to demonstrate to the agency the possibilities of an advanced analytics strategy for its operations and confirm Oracles Exalytics in-memory analytics capabilities prior to implementation phases.

The solution enabled new analytics capabilities, including:

  • Access to the agency’s historical data in real time.

  • Rapid data analysis generated in less than four seconds.

  • Standard reports and self-service discovery path.

  • Automated alerts to help identify erroneous reporting submissions.

  • Executive dashboards to view trending analysis and budget forecasting.

  • Ad-hoc data analysis and extensive visualization capabilities

  • Improving the agency’s overall analytics acumen.

Results

By using the Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation Suite with Oracle Exalytics, the agency can generate complex reports, populate dashboards and produce informative visualizations in seconds, as well as perform on-the-fly analytics with ease. The automated alerts and reporting are reducing tedious data collection processes and empowering the agency to focus on value-driven analyses.

Accenture helped the agency save money upfront with an approach that enabled operational and management reporting and analysis without an investment in a datamart or warehouse.
