Accenture Digital Supply Network Survey 2015

Traditional supply chains need to become dynamic supply networks.

As production rates soar, aerospace and defense companies need to make sure that the digital transformation of their supply chains catches up with the digitally enabled aircrafts and systems they're delivering to the market. Traditional supply chains need to become dynamic supply networks. And while technology has an important part to play in driving that transformation, the most decisive factor will be how digital integrates with existing processes and systems.

Accenture's survey of more than 30 leading aerospace and defense companies found that lack of transparency and weak collaboration with suppliers are giving rise to delayed deliveries and in-service problems. As dependencies on third parties for manufacturing continue to rise, along with pressure to deliver on time and at scale, achieving broader and deeper visibility across the entire supply network has never been more critical. The solution? Harnessing the power of digital technologies.

Key Findings

Creating the all-digital dynamic supply network will hinge on addressing three key steps:

  1. Define a vision for the digital supply network and the outcomes it will deliver.

  2. Migrate from program-centric approaches to identifying the capabilities and services that deliver greatest value to customers.

  3. Map the journey ahead with a comprehensive digital blueprint.
